Yahoo has been picking up my new sites faster lately.

Mind you that might be entirely due to the fact that Slurp hits my sites 20 times (literally) as much as MSN, Google, and all other engines, combined.

    LOL

It's a good thing I don't consume a whole lot of bandwidth at this point; otherwise I wouldn't have been able to post that so calmly. I haven't even looked to see what Slurp uses, but based on the number of pageviews, it's probably close to what my visitors & the other bots use up, combined..

I wouldn't complain so much if I was getting substantially more traffic from Yahoo. For 20x the crawling; I'd also expect a lot more indexed pages too. Used to have a lot more indexed in Yahoo, before their bot started hanging on my sites like crazy, and now that they are, not so much. Google, while it takes longer to get indexed initially in most cases, usually ends up with way more pages indexed & cached, with 1/20 the crawling.

Nothing like sitting on a brand new great idea site and cursing Googlebot for not crawling very much because I want it to take off fast, finally resigning myself to it taking a long, long time, and then all of a sudden a month or so later seeing the entire site indexed, while Yahoo still shows only the homepage. Damn bots :p

Agreed. Yahoo is definitely faster. You can look at it as they are #2 so they have to " try harder." Or that Google is #1 and they have to be more selective/protective.

    Both are indeed true.

Are you talking about a complete index or only a homepage or partial list?

Yahoo comes in fast, but then kind of stops in between...
For me it's google that always shows maximum pages indexed, and not to mention maximum traffic sent! :)
    Wo I love google!!! ;)
    Bye

Yahoo is definitely faster than Google and MSN, atleast for me.

My site is 10 days old and here are the stats:

    Pages Indexed
    • Google - 2
    • MSN - 1
    • Yahoo - 102

    Backlinks
    • Google - 0
    • MSN - 0
    • Yahoo - 2 (external) and 71 (internal)

I know that if you have a BRAND NEW site and throw on a PR7 or higher you'll
get indexed by Google in 24hrs.

PRWEB Press release also gives the high five to Google for a rapid 24hr or less inclusion as well.

Just speaking from experience, MSN and Yahoo have always been the fastest for me. MSN more than yahoo, but both very fast to pick up on the sites!

Google has indexed more of my pages and showed me more traffic in the past, but now Yahoo is showing me more love.

For me, I get sometimes more from google, sometimes more from yahoo, and sometimes more from msn. It depends on what kind of site, forums google likes more. Yahoo likes regular content sites more, and honestly i dont know what msn likes, with msn its just mix and match.

    Yahoo, the best !??! :D
I have sites where google is indexing thousands of pages while yahoo is only indexing a couple of pages. Those are content rich sites and google crawls 900 pages a day in average.
Other sites where Yahoo is indexing more (or at least, non supplementals in google are less than those indexed by yahoo) are semi generated pages. Even in indexing, google is way better then competition.

google's indexing is probably the slowest because they have complicated algorithms such as the page rank thing, having to crawl through all the sites and back and forth to determine PR
