why wouldn't I want to use the real time inventory directly from the ebay store?

I am wondering why anyone would export data from an ebay store to a local database. I am trying to understand why this would be preferable to simply using the real time data offered by the ebay store?

No, I am not an ebay seller so maybe they do not allow direct access to stores.. but if I can access in real time the current inventory why would the client want to export 667*30 [items per page] to a local database when the data could have changed almost before he has finished exporting and loaded the data?

I have asked this question before of others doing the same with data from CJ or Linkshare. I know I can access the inventory directly from these sources and yet I am still unsure why this is done?

If I have asked the question in the wrong place-- please excuse my ignorance.

It doesn't make any sense to me unless the data being extracted is for people selling on a quantity (like "205 available"). It's different with CJ because those are just static products, not bound by time limits.
