Why would people want to use other Search Engines, if Google is the most accurate?

For some reason I've always used Google, and pretty much only use it, simply because of the clean layout. However, now-a-days there's plenty of alternatives, and I'd love to find a new search engine.

On another note, if Google doesn't bring me what I want on the first page, I usually give up searching for it. Bad habbit.

Good questions, just in expectation of more better search results or just in search of something new on other search engines ....

I like goo.ne.jp and yahoo.jp for Japanese, Baidu.com for Chinese, Yandex.ru or Rambler.ru for Russian, and Sanook.com for Thai.

I am a Googler when it comes to the rest of the world, though. Especially English language sites! :D

Google was the most accurate, but its losing its quality and Yahoo is picking up the slack. A lot of webmasters are now going to yahoo to get their searches done because they think google is full of spam. Sadly, spam is one of the side-effects of being the #1 search engine.

because monopolism is bad and google loves to know for what you search... they simply suck in terms of data security

The weak point is google is full of spam. You can find anything from google but you also find spam site also.

I think soon some people will choose to use alternatives to Google, just as they choose OSX and Linux over MS. I still use Google most of the time myself but perhaps its time to try going cold turkey for like a week and see how I survive :)

For the same reason why most people don't eat the same cereal every day, 365 days a year.

There are some who have no idea what or who google is and some prefer to use more than one search engine.

and because of the "reporting tool" at Google. Your site can be targeted for de-indexing. It's been done many times over already.

Other search engines at least keep unfortunate sites alive, even if only a little bit.

    Col :)
