Why would people want to use other Search Engines, if Google is the most accurate?

I was just wondering. What do other people think? What other search engines do you use besides google?

I get good results from Yahoo - one should never be totally reliant on one search engine alone.

DP-wise, http://aftervote.com is the best alternate/meta/webmaster friendly search engine I know of - shows what is possible when done and thought properly.

I think some other search engines are catching up with Google in terms of search accuracy. Although Google is dominating the search market, people are always looking for something new, so it's best to realize that and stay one step ahead of the crowd. Social bookmarking, for instance, has blossomed in the past couple years. Now some people do their searching through that, hoping that the masses will give them more relevant information than an algorithm.

Very good comments I recieved! Thank you. I prefer the social bookmarking sites that have recently blossomed over the past months. There are a lot of more interesting, NEW content as prefered to SE.

I know YAHOO you can use a special code to check backlinks, or something, which they don't have in google.

Well everybody has their preferences. Not all people like to use Google.
Take for example the Chinese market. Google don't dominate there, but Baidu

    People prefer Baidu in China.

Would you turn away traffic coming to your site from any search engine other than Google?

Although I prefer Google over all others, there are plenty of good reasons for using other search engines. Each search engine has a different take on ranking sites and thus results may vary which is a GOOD thing. If you're doing research on niche subjects, for example, it's a great way to cast a wider net and find more material than if you depended on a single perspective. Personally, I never want to be completely dependent on a single point of view - would you?

    Regards,

    Robert

There are plenty of reasons to use other search engines. Perhaps for your searching needs another engine might be more accurate, maybe you like the design and layout of a different engine, or maybe another one has a feature that you prefer over that which Google offers.

I am not quite sure that Google is more accurate. As far as what? Getting me my search results I want. Not always. I would than have to revert to Yahoo. I generally no go straight for Yahoo. And if it doesnt produce what I want within the 1st 3 pages/30 indexed results I will hop on over to Google. And or use www.gahooyoogle.com, which was mentioned prior. Besides its fun to see what results and its alot quicker if I need results from both SE right than.

Sometimes you can get different image results for a search term in different
search engines. Then some people like my dad are just set in their ways.MSN
was the first browser that he ever used.He still likes to use it as a browser
though even he has DSL now.

they'd want to use other search engines once they've had enough of the typical corporate BS (see: adsense earnings, favoritism toward big corporate sites in SERPs)

I used Yahoo and MSN because like Google it gives accurate information. MSN and Yahoo is the two search engine that we first used.
