My host - dedicated server - told me to just add max_connections=250 to up the amount of connections i can have . I did that rebooted server and nothing changed. Also the my.cnf file was pretty much empty when I used VI to edit - just a few lines no parameters listed

How can I find the config file for mysql on my server ? I really need to change some parameters,

    Thanks
