why would my backlinks just drop?

    yesterday i had 42 backlinks from multiple domains \ pages to my website. today i have 28 backlinks.

    anyone have any idea why this would happen?

    classified, directory, blogs links will expired within time periods so what type of backlinks you have try to use forums, articles , bookmarking etc

    Yep, low quality backlinks are more likely to stop being indexed. Trying to get authoritive links through good PR and news stories will keep as well. What type of links are you getting at the moment?

    Link is changed nofollow by admin that you put backlink..maybe it cause why your backlink drop.

    I am also facing the same type of problem. I have yet to know any tool to know about it- which links are deleted or dropped. so that we may not waste time on those kind of links.

    Could be for any number of reasons; the website could have been blacklisted by Google, or any number of reasons - but this is the 'mystery' with SEO ;)

    +1 for the change of the algorithm of google. I have read many times that google news algorithm got people in sandbox.
    You may got penalized.

    Whenever Google updates itself it ignores the low quality back links. so, build quality back links from PR pages to be considered by Google and other search engines.

    It may possible that your links has been removed from those pages and google bot doesn't found your links on that pages, thats why your backinks drops

    You can create backlinks from bookmarking, forums, blog commenting. Also try to get backlinks from good PR sites.

    I think you are not creating quality backlinks. That's why this happened to you. Try to create quality backlinks from reliable resource like article, forum posting etc.

    I think you are checking your backlinks in Google Webmaster tool…. This tool will never give you the accurate number of backlinks. You must check your links in Yahoo! Site explorer.

    And, do not worry if Google Webmaster Tool is not showing the right number because SE knows how many backlinks your website has got, it just not showing all backlinks.

    backlink quality isn't same every google update. . if the quality less than last update,it will didn't indexed. .
