I'm just curious. What do the folks offering to buy PR6 websites know that i don't? How will they make money with that site? Why else might they want it? I'm learning and don't yet know.
    thx,
    m

What most people purchasing a PR 6 domain hope to get from the PR 6 is the search engine traffic, or possibility of search engine traffic. A PR 6 means a site has good amount of quality one-way incoming links. Therefore, they feel that since it already has a PR 6, they will be able to target high paying keywords, get listed in the search engines for the keywords, and convert it to revenue via an advertising medium. What they often fail to take into account is that most of the search engines (namely Google) punish you for changing whois information drasticly. Ie, Bob Jones in Knoxville, TN. => Linda Hamilton in San Francisco, CA. This is currently a subjective debate, but I believe in it strongly. Also, people fail to take into account that PR is a dynamic activity indicator. You can go from PR 6 to PR 0 in one PR update.

I will rather buy an 5 year old PR 1 domain than a new PR 5 domain :D Domain age has a lot to do with google's SERP according to me.

You should always be VERY careful if anyone tries to sell you a website about anything - after all if the website were that good or if it was making the kind of money they might claim, then why would they sell it in the first place?

Basically, in my opinion, there is a lot of SCAM's running on the sale of websites - take a look at Ebay and you will see loads

The only circumstances when I would consider buying a website would be if someone has "ditched" the domain name, but there is still a fair amount of traffic as measured by Alexa coming to the domain. Then it could be worth it, but not if the seller wants a shed load of money for it

Remember there is nothing magical about PR6 or PR anything - you can just as easily lose your precious PR6 after you have bought the domain - so do be very careful

Dont fall into the trap of thinking you will make a short-cut to good traffic/sales just by buying some established PR or other - most websites that really make lots of money do it by other non search engine related strategies e.g. a big genuine double opt-in email list will achieve alot more than any PR ranking

Of course its true that you have to spend money to make money - but you must always be careful on the kind of money you are spending and on what

Its just too easy for someone to say - I have a PR6 and you must pay me $000 for some ad - even if it will be rarely if ever clicked - oh and of course there is a no refunds policy.

There are loads of websites out there that are "selling" advertising that is simply totally worthless

Put yourself in the postion of the average person surfing the net - what happens when they are doing a search and click through to a site, but instead of getting real content, they get ads, banners, links, to other sites splattered all over the place?
As quickly as a flash, they will be away from that site and will never come back

So the important thing when marketing your site is only use advertising that you have previously tested brings you good results. Simply buying a great page rank site will generally be a complete waste of money

Why would anyone buy any website? Just give them to me for free and go stand on corners twirling a sign for a living. :D

    I respectfully disagree with this.

I have lot of domains, that are very old, but they do not have good PR.

    Thanks

Haha I'd just buy the name to simply sell text links on it! But yea I would like to get a page rank 6 domain. Depends on the name though...

i understand i pr6 is important, what I dont get is people are willing to fork out money for p6 p5 p4 domain names like www.ddgjen.com or www.ffjsdr.info

never heard of SEO, the domain name the most important thing in my opinion
