I noticed that a particular category that I care about has zero page rank. Any idea why this would be the case, or how this might possibly change? Here's what I've ruled out so far: (1) It's not new. Archive.org says it's been around since 2001 (2) It's not too far down. Its parent category has PR5, and so does its one sibling I don't know if it's changed over time. Never tracked it before. My best guess is that it hasn't been editing in a long time. Looking at Archive.org it hasn't changed substantively since at least 2005. Is that feasible? Would an editing blitz help? Any other ideas?
PR not detect traffic... but it's only detect for backlink... how much PR value for you? and how about ALEXA?
To be honest I also wouldn't be worried about the PR of the Dmoz page - you will get a lot of trust and credit just for being listed in there - if you can! ;-)
The directory changes daily. New categories are added daily, sites are removed and added daily... granted, slowly, but still daily. Though, in your first post, it seems to have been around for a few years. How deep is it? Most of the links to DMOZ point to DMOZ itself. By the time you reach the bottom of any larger cat, you'll likely find a lot of PR1 and PR0 pages. Some are even unranked! http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Pagan/Wicca/Online_Book_of_Shadows/Rituals/Circle/ last edited over a year ago! Oh, you mean like all those top notch Geocities pages that were all written in the 90's I know when I'm looking for resources, Angelfire is certainly on the TOP of my list for trusted sites
