WordPress is now widely known as the best Content Management System (CMS) for websites and blogging.

There are still some misconceptions that WordPress is for blogging and nothing else. But the truth is with the developer community expanding, we see more themes and plugins that are made for specific niches such as shopping, real estate, auctions, etc. So if you are looking for a tool to develop your website - or blog - think WordPress.

Here's why I think WordPress will conquer the CMS market in 2012.

    1. If you go to Google Trends and type: wordpress, drupal, joomla to search the trends you'll find out that the competitors have a declining trend while WordPress plateau'd
    2. WordPress powers 22% of website in the US
    3. WordPress powers 14.7% of the top global websites
    4. It's free!
    5. WordPress 3.2 has been downloaded more than 9,500,000 times!
    6. There are over 37,000,000 global searches for the keyword: wordpress
    7. It's free!

Would love to hear why you think Wordpress will be the Tool for 2012 - or why it would not be.

Just want to add that some WordPress themes can now be modified by dragging and dropping the elements found on the theme!

Wordpress is a brilliant CMS and very SEO friendly with many posts being indexed for keywords within seconds. But, it is not as flexible as Drupal in terms of regions, panels and other customization options. Unless somebody knows something different Wordpress is quite limited for the average user where Drupal has far more modules and customisable themes and blocks.
