Now I've been on the fence for sometime with this. Been with XP for some time now. Because I absoluted despised Vista and downgraded all my new pc's down to Xp because of it. I had a Hard Drive failure a few weeks ago and decided to give Windows 7 a fair try. I was absolutely pleasantly surprised at the quality and ease of use of it. There are so many minor / little features that makes it a great user experience and over all better OS IMO. I found a option for Windows Explorer that is a Preview Pane (Think Preview Pane of Outlook) and will allow you to preview video, audio, text files. The true floating Gadgets are pretty cools as well allowing you to move then anywhere you wish. Grouping of Like Applications in the Taskbar W/Quick Preview of the windows is a Absolute Timesaver. Overall Windows 7 is right on the money (it does seem to speed up the software, games...etc). I do suggest you give it shot and see how you like it. I think like me you will be greatly surprised and fall in love with it.

People prefer Windows 7 because it represents what Vista should have been from the start. A good, optimized, reliable OS. Just be sure to get the Ultimate version.

Very recomended you to upgrade for windows 7, especially because you are now using windows vista. Windows 7 is the most stable and awesome OS, there's some people that complaint about it because either they never tried using it, or they have old computer. I recomended you upgrade to Ultimate version of widows 7, it is the best thing you would have done in selecting your OS. Some people also complaint that windows 7 crash, bug, slow, etc... that is 100% not true. They may be using cracked, beta, alpha version of Windows 7. The slow or crash in windows 7 is mostly because it has an aswesome GUI or graphic user interface that is very eye catching. But as my experience, windows 7 is perfect for gaming, software and mosly compatible with any software/games.

Fast effiecient 64 bit, doesn't mess up. Starts up and shuts down fast. Good back up features, good updates. Don't use vista, but compared to xp win7 blows xp away big time in every category.

Why Windows 7 indeed? Why not Ubuntu :D
But to answer your question, I switched to W7 mainly because it can run in my Acer Aspire One netbook as well as XP.

Are you thinking about upgrading due to some failing of your current OS or thinking about it just because? If your current situation is just fine the way it is, leave it alone. We do all our accounting on an old box running XP for Quickbooks and have no reason to upgrade because it does what it's supposed to do just fine. We could spend a thousand or more dollars to get new hardware and Win7 but why?
