Why will my site not appear in Yahoo?

I don't know why but my site that ranks well in Google has never - to my knowledge - ranked in Yahoo.

I can search on the url - I typed in www.mysite.com and it gave one page. When I clicked "More from this site" it still only gave the one page.

Why is this? It has a very busy discussion forum with about 30,000 members, plenty of pages. But I am at my wits end.

Any advice? Am I allowed to leave the url here?

    Thanks,

    Jon

I have the same problem with all my sites.

Most rank very good in Google, excellent in MSN, but nowhere in Yahoo.

If someone can give me a "clue" as to why, it will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank

I have same situation, what I read in some other threads here it seems that site is banned in Yahoo when only index page is left in index.

Is it possible to get your site ban removed or is that it forever? What about finding out why your site was banned?

Hi tork - forgive the silly question. But what is "deep links"?

Deep links: link to your internal pages, not just homepage.

I have the same problem with my relatively new site. Only index.html appears to be indexed. I had tried to ask for re-evaluation request only to receive a canned message.

FINDING OUT IF SITE IS PENALISED
So I decided to write to 2 email adresses I found here at DP (ystfeedbackATyahoo.com and reportsearchspamATyahoo-inc.com -- change AT with @ )but receive no reply. The only reply I got from human being is when I used this form :
    http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/ysearch/cgi_search_support

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Search.

There is no indication that your site is in violation of the content
    guidelines.

It is likely that more pages of your site will be added to the index
eventually. The index is very large and it takes a while for all of
    the
    sites to be crawled.

Please be patient while this process takes place.

    Sincerely,

    Max
    Search Support Team

Try it. I got a reply within 24 hours but am still waiting for the rest of my pages to be index and to appear in the SERP. I am not confident about my site being indexed after that but at least there's a reply saying that there's nothing wrong with my site.

I have no idea why, but if you have the time, just look at the number of posts in here about being penalised by Yahoo. There's a lot of posts about it recently. It wasn't like this before ..

    SOLUTION?

After reading numerous posts about site being penalised, the only way (so far) to get indexed after you're penalised is by using Submit Express (which is bloody expensive).

Apart from that I have found no viable solution offered.

If anyone have a free solution, pls let us all know.

If your not penalized then you just need to get more inbound links. An indication of being penalized is when only your homepage shows as being indexed. However, that is also the first page that usually gets indexed. Iquiring to yahoo is a good way to find out what is going on with the site.

I am a member of several forums and I have found that forum signature links can help a site get indexed fast. You can also deep link from your signature. ;)

Well, I would be very surprise at it being not enough links. I have several hundred and my site has been up and running for about 5+ years now.

So I take that as indicating I have some penalty. But I have no idea why. That is what I would like to find out.

There was a period of time where I believe yahoo was de-indexing all sites reported to them as spam. Competitors abused the spam submit and so I think that has changed. Your site may have been submitted as spam by a competitor. This is one possible reason your site may be de-indexed.

Just use the form that I used in the previous posts. Firstly, you may get an answer from a human being. Secondly, if there's nothing wrong with the site, you may see something positive (more pages indexed).

I do not know if this is a coincidence or what but after I received his message, in 24 hours, I have seen another pages being indexed and my backlinks grow. Only the index.html page was indexed for the last few months or so ( although slurp crawls daily).

I did indeed use that form yesterday as you suggested. I got a reply in a couple of hours. It said...

Am I allowed to give a link to see if anyone here can identify the culprite on my site?

    Thanks,

    Jon

If you post a link to your site then we could look at it and see if we see anything that might be causing the problem with Yahoo.
