Why were my clicks higher than actions on FB ad

    Hi,

I recently ran my first FB ad. Something is really confusing me and i can't seem to find this answer anywhere.
It was a "like" campaign and i was just trying to get the viewer to click like the fanpage.

The ad report showed 107 clicks but only 81 actions. How is this possible? What were the other clicks?

If anyone has insights to this i greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

Your clicks should normally be higher than your actions. Clicks are visits to your fanpage, and probably mostly Likes. Actions are anything that someone did within 1 day to one month after seeing your ad. this could be likes, comments, shares, etc.

What you are seeing is completely normal.

Thanks for the reply. I guess i'm just dumbfounded by the total clicks and so few likes of the page. I had 107 clicks and only 26 page likes. This was a like campaign so if figured if people
liked it they would just click like. I guess a lot of people just like clicking on the picture to see more. I'm trying to figure how to run again but the math doesn't work if i only get 1/4 likes to total clicks.

Clicks are number of clicks on your ads, while action are actions taken by those people within a month of clicking, that includes liking your page. If action is higher than the number of clicks that means your fans are active on your page, they are liking your page, your story, commenting on it and sharing it. But if your actions are lower than the clicks that means the dropout rate is higher. People are clicking on your ad, but they are not liking your page. This should not happen.

I'd suggest that you should re-evaluate your ad campaign, analyze the insight. Try to figure out why people are not liking your page. There can be many reasons for example, may be you don't have enough interesting contents that could appeal to visitors. May be the page only appeals to a certain demography or region, while your ad campaign is global and non-targeted.

For my pages the story is completed opposite of yours, If get e.g. 20 clicks on ad campaign, I get about 50-60 actions. But my ads are highly targeted, both demographically and geographically.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely need to sit down and figure out a new approach as my first ads didn't work out as planned.
