Communism isn't bad. Its a very beautiful idea. The implementation of Communism is what pretty much alwasy winds up being bad. The short version is, greedy capitalists in the west(basically over 70% of our citizens), didn't think having the state redistribute our wealth as it saw fit while corrupt politicians pocketed the majority of it was a good way to run a government. In a war of their ideas vs our ideas, we won by outspending them.

The soviet block was not Communism, it was State Capitalism. In a war between USA and Soviet block USA won because Soviet block exploded under it's own weight but in the war between State Capitalism and Capitalism, State Capitalism is winning since USA and it's former allies are becoming more and more a State Capitalism. ;):D

The West/USA was not at war with Communism because it is "Communism", but in (cold) war with the USSR. The same war would have taken place also if the USSR was anything other than western - Islamist, Budhist etc', or just a dictatorship. It was a struggle for hegemony and interests.
I think that even if the USSR was capitalist, a struggle would still take place - maybe with less intensity. See US-CHINA (a "wannabe" communist country) relations today.

    Communism is a great idea.
The problem is that a governmental system which theoretically is great is not enough, because a governmental system does not appear only in books of philosophy, but in the lives of people. People have their nature - one of its features is something that exists since the beginning of evolution: GREED and a desire to keep as much as I can for myself and screw the rest.

Therefore, IMHO, although a great idea, communism failed (EVERYWHERE!) because it contradicts the human nature.

To my best knowledge, only one communist model can be defined as a success, and this is the Israeli Kibbutz. To make a long story short, its success is due to the homogeneouity of the people, its very very small size (that leaves little place for intransparency), the necessity to defend from an external threat, and the unique circumstances in the pre and first Israel days where the kibbutzes were established.

This forum is perhaps the most capitalist place on the web. Everybody is trying to make couple of $, and the number of scammers and liars is just too high to be true ;)

    You are funny.

I am guess if Communism was at war with the US, and since you and Muslims hate the US, you are thinking, "hey this Communism thing can't be all bad."

new, you are as ignorant as you are pathetically transparent.

it's not communism per se but oppression I am against. It can be communism, fascism, religious oppression you name it. Anything that undermines the exercising of the free will God gave us is IMO against human kind and needs to be gone against.

When I was born socialism (quite similar as communism) ended here, but here is why I know about it from the stories, please be aware that it might not be reliable information.
All the plants belonged to the workers and there were jobs available to almost anyone here.
You could purchase everything, if you could pay it off, like taking a unlimited loan or something from the plant, state or whatever.
Now the bad side of communism.
People start exploiting these loans, greed took its place and plants hired too many slackers so it all broke down.
Another bad side of communism is leadership of one single political party.
People would be sent to prison here if they would speak anything bad against the government or the leader. Many of those who were sent to prisons never came back.
Some censorship there. If you opposed them you would be silenced, permanently.

As for capitalist communist war, I don't know too much about it, but I'm guessing that it was war of opinions against East and West. Two largest forces fought for supremacy.
Strangely, that war has ended a long time ago, but you can still see that East and West can't find a common ground.
