@malky66 Maybe the OP isn't just being paranoid. Maybe everybody *really* is out to get him!....mooooohahahaha!
LOL. Since I posted this thread and the other one (Is Digital Point Losing Visitor Loyalty) it seems like dozens of others have questioned Digital Point on similar or related grounds. Still no change. Still no apologies. The same bulls$$t being thrown our way. I give this forum 6 months to go below the ALEXA 1000 mark, which is pretty low in my expert opinion. Don't worry I will be still here to see that day. Being punished for "Duplicate threads", what a joke. I have been reading how taking a PREMIUM membership makes me get some privileges here. Well, trust me when I say there are no privileges. They don't even have the courtesy to appreciate a paying member for giving his or her genuine feedback on anything that goes on discreetly and not so discreetly here. You get punished just for saying something against or about Digital Point. and something which they don't like hearing. Also seems like the same 15 members have been posting on all these threads and giving each other "likes" as well. Is it some sort of discreet network or teamwork happening behind the scenes here? I wonder why only those 15 members seem to be replying to all threads in the General Chat and this area. I posted around 10 or more high quality threads during the last 3 months or so but just a couple of likes. And, these 15 members who show up on those threads with their 2 cents get the LIKES. Cool huh! Do not bother replying to this one, and let it get buried just like you cleverly have been doing so for most of my threads here. And, to many members who just like me have been ignored and shunned because they simply voiced their opinion. I would request some of the other members who have been or are in my "sorry" position to do exactly what I have been doing - visit DP less often. As simple as that!
@wonay, I don't think you or anyone else has been "punished" for speaking out against DP. Do you *really* think that admin. and the mods are so small minded and vindictive as that? They are simply trying to run the site and keep order. You are not half as important as you seem to think you are. No one is trying to muzzle or control your opinions. And as to the gang of 15 what you have is a group of regulars who happen to be like minded and essentially agree with each other, and share a common sense of humor. So not surprisingly there are a few likes here and there being handed out mutually.
@diva He's only posting again because he's desperate for some attention, best to just ignore him and hope he keeps his threat to visit less often, don't think too many people will miss him. Besides anyone who still uses alexa as a gauge of success can't really be taken seriously....
How is this reply relevant to my support thread here? Please do tell me since it sure seems like both of the earlier posts are completely irrelevant and of a very low post quality.
Yes point taken but.....remember wonay that DP is a vibrant and diverse community. And yes conversation, humor, and side topics do and will happen. Serious posts *and* irrelevant posts makes the interesting hybrid, that make DP better than all other sites.
Well, I think you have gone way off topic on almost every thread that I have started and you have got far more likes from those 2 cent posts or replies than most other members. I wonder if you have contributed anything really useful to this forum as far as starting useful and insightful threads are concerned during the last 3 months. As for DP being better than most other forums - it is mainly because of the buy-sell section that this forum does well currently. I wonder if the owner of this website has the guts to stop the buy-sell section for a month and still run this forum. Highly doubt DP is anything without the buyers and the sellers here. This is my own 2 cents anyway.
@wonay Not that it matters but I have 2 threads going that *might* answer your question. One thread has 9,100 views, the other has 7,500 views. One is getting close to 200 replies. And there is a reason that I have 152 followers. It's because many members *agree* with my opinions. Not everyone likes me on here. (many don't) But more members like me than don't. So to the ones that feel that I contribute nothing at all......who f***ing cares!
As a post replying member I certainly think you are one of the best members on DP right now. But, during the last 3 months I have noticed that your reply count is 99 percent more than your thread count. It sure doesn't matter to me what you have just said but I am pretty sure the other 14 members I have been tracking will give you a LIKE or two for this reply. And for once try and look at things from my point of view (at least on this thread) because it sure seems like you have something invested in all this (to me anyway). You know, this is one of those few places on the internet which I find members are so narrow minded. Every thread that I have posted related to DP has got the same 15 people sitting on it and replying to it in support of DP. It is probably time to change your strategy! Maybe, the 15 members are connected to this forum in some way. I know that 5 of them or more are moderators. Also, I have noticed that most of these 15 members I am talking about simply put other members down or insult them or make fun of them. Rarely, if ever, have I seen that these 15 members have actually helped solve the problem or address the core topic being discussed in the thread well enough. And, finally, you 15 members please stop making fun of other members just because their views on DP are different from what you have impulsively cultivated and also please question my knowledge on certain topics posted by me only if you know half of what I know about the topics being discussed. If things go on like this I am pretty sure I will be banned but that will definitely not be the end of this. I will have no choice but to escalate this issue to a higher level on the right platform. I have plenty of experience in this anyway so might as well use it sooner rather than later. Feel sad for those moderators and members who were probably banned, fired or removed from DP because they thought differently.
You probably are. Thanks for admitting it. And, there are also many other positions on such forums. Like thread fillers. I have seen quite a bit of them on such forums. Probably here too.
The closest thing we have to an undercover mod is anyone that reports something. Pretty sure Spoiltdiva was banned at some point... That would be pretty mean to do to a mod. Lol
Well thanks for taking some time out of your hectic schedule and replying to my post. Why don't you just listen and analyze things more. I understand where you are coming from but the way you have been treating members like me and several others after these new changes is just irritating, annoying and sad. I can understand that you took a long time to bring about these changes but there is no reason to put down or eradicate members who feel differently from your views. I know that you have been saying again and again and again that these changes have been really worthwhile but I am sorry to say this but you have got quite a few things wrong on this one. And, I am quite certain that in 6 months time it will really start to hurt and haunt you. I am pretty certain that you have already lost a lot of revenue (my sources say 30 percent or more since December 28th, 2012). The sad part is that you are so stubborn that you really cannot see things clearly right now. Well, this is my view against yours but you certainly are seeing things only from your angle and only based on your limited experience with managing just this 1 forum. I am pretty certain that you haven't managed more than 5 forums in your lifetime and you probably think well where am I going with this one too. So never mind, let's just say this is my view and there is your view. But still do not dictate or enforce your views on your members that it really begins to feel like there is some racism going on here.
Yep... We'll just agree to disagree. {shrug} as far as being racist, no clue where that's coming from. Certainly never something that someone has ever accused me of. I suspect that your sources are quite wrong about lost revenue (or even lost traffic). You should ask your sources if they even know what our revenue is from... I suspect not.
Advertising revenue (including Adsense) = 40 percent. Premium Memberships = 40 percent. Misc. = 20 percent I am guessing you haven't been reading the replies the mods and established members have been giving on some of my threads including this one.
OK. I give up, this is not about where your money on DP comes from anyway. It is about how the changes you have made are hurting members like me and countless others. I wouldn't be wrong in saying that the "Support and Feedback" section has probably got more views than most other sections during the last few weeks. And, that is simply because some of these changes have really hurt thousands of people. I don't know how far you are going to go with these changes but I am surely entitled to voice my opinion on things that are affecting my livelihood. You are a millionaire so you probably don't give a sh$t about guys like me. But, you should. Because you are a millionaire purely because of guys like me who have helped make DP what it is today. Another thing, I am very hurt when people put Indians down a lot on thee forums. I don't want to get too deep into it right now but please ask your mods to keep their eyes wide open and keep away from the sips of coffee they are on. And what hurts me the most is that I really liked this forum and was actually happy that you were putting so much effort into making it a better place. The design, the speed, the forum software is all good. But, the LIKE system really, really isn't fair and the mods are not always doing their jobs as well as they did it a few months ago. Just my view again. My threads shouldn't have been deleted the way they were, and I shouldn't have got those 2 infractions but never mind now. I understand how difficult it is to rub some sense into your brains.
I'm not saying everything I've ever done is perfect (far from it)... If that was the case, there would have been no changes to the site since the day it opened. The reality is we will always be evolving to make the site *overall* a better place. It's impossible to make everyone 100% happy with everything, all you can shoot for is make the most people happy. Pretend there were no Likes, Warnings or Trophy points. People really seem to care too much about them. It doesn't matter if you have 3 likes of 5,000 likes, it's all the same after 3. Unless you have 10 or more warning points, it's also the same as having 0. And trophy points, well... they have no value what-so-ever. They are nothing more than an (arguably) fun thing that doesn't do anything for you. The recent changes are the 4th time I've singlehandedly brought about the impending demise of this site... I'm having deja vu from 2 years ago when becoming a nofollow site was the beginning of the end for this site. https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/no-longer-a-dofollow-site.2221026/page-4#post-16454871 I have all the access to the *real* numbers, and to be honest, every way I look at it (traffic, geographic location of users, things being sold in the Buy/Sell/Trade, bids happening, average sell price, number of posts needing to be deleted/spam, warnings given, banned users, engagement on social networks (people talking about site on Twitter/Facebook/Google+), users returning, average time on site, etc, etc... Every single metric is moving in the desired direction. As much as people would like to think that I just randomly throw crap out there and somehow I must have just gotten really lucky at having a popular site, that's just not the case. I look at every little tiny thing, all the time... Again, there is no way to make a perfect site for everyone, but you *can* shoot for good for most. Personally, I'd like to see all the sections in the "Other" category in Buy/Sell/Trade deprecated (Like Sales, Link Exchange and Vouchers), but I haven't at this point because some users still want that stuff. Personally, I think it's all spam and if I *really* didn't listen to users, those areas would be gone. They definitely are problematic areas that cause more work for us. Someday, the hassle of having them may outweigh the benefit, and they could be deprecated... for now, they were just kind of hidden away under the "Other" category. The point is that changes made to the site (at least ones that impact users greatly) are really well thought out. For example the new like system for established users was being discussed last summer (and has been on my mind for years). You can't get to the original post because it's only accessible to mods/admins, but it was being discussed last August. As you can see, originally the idea was likes from 5 unique members, but that ended up being 3. Anyway, if you think any major change here isn't mulled over for months and months (and in many cases years), you are very mistaken. The new system was brought about to solve an *actual* problem of pointless/low quality/gibberish posts. It's not a perfect solution (nothing ever is), but it's a huge step up from the old system of how a user became "established". In fact, I'm thinking far enough ahead, that I have a pretty good guess at what the next "doomsday" change will be someday.
