Why use Photoshop?

If you want to do work at a professional level, then you need Photoshop.

GIMP is an open source alternative, but it can't do all of the things that Photoshop can, especially version CS6.

Photoshop is the only software available which offers almost every tool that can solve any of your purpose. Only pinch is - you should know how to use it!

There are so many tutorials, free ebooks and videos available online to learn PS. My point is learn Photoshop with some efforts once and for ever. Why use free graphic editing programs for small graphic works? Isnt it wise to have thorough mastery in one software than knowing many softwares in bits and parts? What say?

Its basicly a standard for the industry, the same as you use Microsoft Word for documents instead of OpenOffice. Everything can be learned, you just need to be willing to put the time and effort in it.

 

i could i think very prefessional image processing tool, but is also very important for the photoshop there are many kinds of tools they are marquee tools are photo shop shapping and photoshop is one of the graphic desiging software specially designed for editing manipulating and creating effective graphics.

yes there are some great free photo editing tools, but with Photoshop ..well it;s a whole another independent universe of professional graphic tools (and I dont get those people who call PS a "tool", while it's a big time package). I used to create logos in PS before I learned about Illustrator, but that's another story
So, if you can and if you know what you want from it - get it.
