Why use JOOMLA?

Discussion in 'Joomla' started by webmasterlabor.com, Jun 2, 2007.

Question to JOOMLA users: why do you use it? How does it compare to other CMS? What are the, hidden and obvious, costs involved? Please don't paste Joomla's "Why use joomla" page here. I'm interested in ACTUAL USERS' reasons for and experiences in using Joomla.

    Thanks in advance

It has without doubt the biggest support community which is makes its strongest point. One can get mods and components for nearly anything and if there are none available, there are plenty of developers available to develop custom ones.

    Hi,

I also am interested in Joomla since I am looking at a redesign of links dot com. However, so far I haven't heard any specifics. The reasons given in this thread are pretty much the same as I hear for WordPress and Drupal. Does anyone have any specific advantages that they can name/explain? Thanks.

i use joomla because i found it the easiest to get started with once you got over the initial learning curve.

it has a lot of great extensions which you can get mostly for free.

it basically did everything i wanted and looked the part.

i know i am doing this guy a huge favour keep posting links to his website but if you look at www.kongceptdesign.co.uk
that is a cool looking joomla site.

    achievable by anyone really

I was reading about a comparison and competition of all of the CMS's and drupal won. Joomla just looked easier to me.

for me, joomla has everything you need.. a lot of component can be use in joomla. such as forum, chat room, e-shopping cart, picture gallery, blog and many more.. so, if you thing your website need to use forum, just install the forum component and ready to use.

basicly you should know what your website are about.. if it a web portal that has forum, pic gallery, i recommend use joomla. if you want to add download section, just install the component... easy to use and install. and a lot of support. every country have their own joomla support.

here a some of website use joomla:

joomla is excellent...the only drawback i've seen yet is the member content submission system that comes with it...its too complicated for the average user.

someone needs to make a custom submission component.

otherwise, joomla is a dream to work with.

It takes a little bit of getting used to, but with their incredible support community to help, it is just a matter of time before you're making powerful, feature rich, kick-ass websites!

There shouldn't be any probs with server load unless you're running a ton of components or some of the heavy hitters (like the SEF extensions), have high traffic or you're on a shared server with limited resources anyway. The "fix" is to be economical with your use of extensions/mods/components, discard anything you don't use and if you're serious run your installation on a dedicated server where you can tweak & optimise the performance.
