If you are not expecting sales from Ezine and and then after having an article published you are submitting your articles to a social bookmarking service to get google ranked/listed in order to get traffic from specific keywords. Why Ezine?
ArticleBase is nofollow and GoArticles is a spam-house. In terms of rankings, ArticleBase is quite good, but still it doesn't beat EA. GoArticles used to rank well few years ago, but now it's crap.
Overall, EA ranks better in the serps. However, I have articles on articlesbase.com that actually outrank some of my EA articles for the same keyword. So, with that said, I would submit articles to all of the top directories (EA, ArticlesBase, GoArticles, Buzzle, etc.) if you are more so focused on SEO. If you are more focused on quick sales and don't want the extra workload of submitting to so many directories, I would stick with just EA.....especially if you sign up for the premium membership. Just my opinion.
In my experience EZA gets better rankings than ArticleBase - and just as importantly I find it much harder to get click throughs with AB because of the way their resource box is set up. GoArticles is crap.
ironically, because EZA is more of a tight-ass and stringent about their Author's editorial guidelines, they more closely mirror the type of content that the SE's are looking for.
Totally agree about the resource box on AB. First time I visited their website, I thought articles don't have any resource boxes.... After I scrolled through all the ads, I finally found something, lol
Articlesbase is nofollow? Unbelievable. I always assumed all article dirs were dofollow. No more articles going there then!
Hi! May I ask what it is about the resource box on ArticlesBase that bothers you? Maybe there's something we can do to improve it. Any suggestions? (I'm the Community Product Manager at AB). Thanks!
Talia Klein: I think what we like about the EZA resource box is that it's "connected" to the bottom of the article. This allows for a fluid situation where someone can read through an article and then hit your resource box and click on your links. For us the entire purpose of submitting to sites like EZA & AB is to get clicks back to our websites... Looking at one of my articles on your site now I do notice that the resource box is no longer below AdSense ads - that is a big step. But I still don't really like how it's in a box - separated from the article. But... I haven't really tested to see what kind of CTR your boxes get without the AdSense ads on top of them. The "nofollow" thing doesn't really bother me that much although I would be curious to hear an explanation? If it helps the articles get better rankings on Google than I'd say that's a good trade off.
I'll talk to my bosses about the resource box and pass on your comments. As for the NoFollow tag, I addressed the topic on this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=11208746&postcount=19 Keep scrolling down and reading after that particular comment cause there is more, I think. If you ever have any comments or questions, feel free to contact our support team, or you can contact me directly through Twitter @ArticlesBase. Thanks!
