Well if you are someone who wishes to search the internet using categorised data, then DMOZ is for you, because that is who it is created for and run for. But you don't tell us who 'you' is. Strange question.

How clearer you want me to be?

I gave you the answer and if that wasn't enough then as you said:
why waste time... talking about the subject that is total waste of time?

    ;rolleyes:

DMOZ is the ODP, Search engines follows dmoz data, so it is useful if you are submitted by dmoz, it you are not submitted then it is not a issue.

If stamps were never made could you still be a stamp collector? Funny how you keep saying webmasters are not needed, then you list their sites when you feel like it. Confusing is it not?

You are 1000% correct! The ODP was founded by a group of people trying to promote their own sites, so the sites of other people were not in their thoughts beyond standard one time listings.

If you meant in general, yes it is. I've listed a bunch today.
If you meant your own site, just wait. If it's listable, we'll list it in time.

If you don't submit your website in dmoz then there is no issue and the benefit of submitting in this many times visitor search by category in this directory, it is largest directory.

Most of the power of the ODP is lost in algorithms for duplicate content and the slowness of updates. When was the last time you saw the ODP show up in SERP for any relevant keywords? So yeah, the front page has a PR8, and the category you are submitting to could have a PR4... but most of the juice is lost in the big picture.

Google stopped suggesting you submit over a year ago, and they sometimes go over a year before they bother updating their own clone of the project.

There are also instances of people getting in, and it NOT effecting their PR or SERP in the slightest... there are also instances of never getting in and still having decent SERP and PR.

Is it worth suggesting? Sure... if you are bothering with [free] directories then YES submit... as that is all it is.

So overall is DMOZ "rated" as one to be bothered with? I particularly have used it for a couple but wouldn't lose any sleep over it, they are volunteers and it does take time for them to view and list sites on many occassions it depends how lucky you get I suppose if your site information lands with a competent proactive moderator or not??.

My website got a huge boost in rankings thanks to DMOZ, from my experience it's definitely worth it. The only down side is it takes a while until you get reviewed.

    Good luck
