why use blogspot or blogger sites ?

I've been wondering why ppl make these accounts ???

I can understand if you can't afford a 10$ URL and 2-3$ hosting a month

but I see well established webmasters using these free blog sites, and their accounts will have high PR they've been there so long ?

I just don't get it

whats the advantage of using these free services for long term ?

Well, Google indexes Blogger incredibly frequent so your blog post will gain exposure from all around the world. Second, you have extremely high control over almost everything in your Blogger account. You can have a easy-to-use interface in the admin panel. I bet I missed many other points.

Google (from what I've read) tends to give favor to these sites in the speed they get indexed.

The reasons i use blogspot blogs:

If i have an idea, i can quickly setup a new blog for free and test the waters.
Managing several blogs is easier wih blogspot
    Some think Google favors them.
The links from these blogs are on different IP blocks than my other websites.

Another reason is that not everyone ( including myself ) knows how to install and configure blogging software and dealing with the probs that may arise there.

Although i do plan to go the independent way in the future but for now blogger is helping me get what i want done quickly and easily for the time being.

Also, I think blogspot has become an acceptable, professional standard. If you had a livejournal, for instance, your site would look much less credible.

Google owns your domain name and can shut you down at anytime.

I don't buy blogger blogs getting indexed faster. Most wordpress blogs I've done are indexed within a few days.

After reading about how some others got their blogger accounts nuked with no warning, I'm a little concerned myself.. I'm about to launch 10 new blogs, and ideally I'd like to have them all hosted through different providers, so they're all on their own class-C's..

Does anyone have a list of blog-friendly hosting companies that offer REALLY cheap monthly plans?

Well blogger is a service of google ..... and so there will be allways an extra favor ....

Its allways better to have ur own site and then a review blog on the same ...

Though google isnt partial when it searches but it adds blogs real faster ... becoz the xml syntax matches allways and the spider finds it easy ....

I hope this information is good enough to give me some points ... said a lot

neway waiting 4 ur comments ...

Blogger is super popular because it is free and easy to use. There is no way that it is the best solution, but neither is Windows, yet nearly everyone uses it.

Google also offer "Google Pages". No doubt when that comes out of beta and gets offered more widely, it will take over from Blogger as a tool that we all (ab)use all the time!

Blogspot is built to have its pages indexed fast.I should know. I used to have a website and getting content into Google was a daily siege. My blog now gets indexed so regularly, I sometimes wonder if Google automates the crawl based on when a blogger publishes a new post.

I've been using Blogger since I started off and still maintain a dozen or so blogspot blogs: The reason? I put in a lot of effort promoting them at the outset and I don't want to loose all my backlinks and notoriety.

look when u get a blog it indexes in 2 days in google ( very fast if ur domain it may take several weeks to be indexed ) but one of its faults is that u cant upload a text file or a direct an html page
