I dont understand? please enlighten me how other search engines out there survive? i mean google has such vast information why would people go anywhere else?
Some are search engines and others directory based searches. Yahoo is great for picking up all your links and other search engines feed off them. Have you ever noticed that a website can have only 100 links in Google and have 10000 in Yahoo? MSN comes somewhere in the middle. Yahoo can be better for finding stuff Google filters out. I think it would suck if Google were the only search engine out there. Talk about a monopoly, its already getting pretty bad to think that so many people spend the whole day (including me) trying to get better search results for their website.
yahoo and msn have there own search engine database so you may find new websites if you use them. So some people prefer yahoo search results over google. Many go to yahoo and msn if they are not satisfied with google results.
Personally I don't like Google due to its size and culture. I also find other engines like www.clusty.com for example can be more useful if you're browsing new subject material.
