For those who prefer to use Yahoo instead of Google, they are stupid. Yes, for some keywords, Yahoo provides better results but mostly Google are still better. If you search for competitive keywords and you live in US (or you use US proxy) you will notice there are always four sponsored links above natural listings in Yahoo. In Google, usually there are only 3 sponsored links (unless if the keywords are extremely competitive). So eventually if you rank for a competitive keyword in Yahoo, don't be surprised if you get very few traffic because people who still use Yahoo will click the ads more than they click your website.

Try submitting a sitemap to Yahoo, worked for me, new site and Yahoo is sending 2x as much traffic as Google - but site is young. I submitted sitemap to both Google and Yahoo - after confirming ownership of course.

It's nothing you can really fix, seems to be a pretty normal ratio.

I rarely use Yahoo! for searching. All of my sites get TONS of traffic from Google - I would say about 95% of the traffic is from Google. There's hardly any from Yahoo! or MSN.

why not check out your the keyword phrase for yahoo. if the keyword ranking is already on the top 5 but still few traffic then you can't do much about it. but if you only rank below the first page than maybe getting to rank higher could give some more traffic.

In my area (Northern California), 78% of the search traffic is on Google.

Most people don't say "Do an internet search for xxxxxxx" --- they all say "Google xxxxx"

the verb "To Google" is a synonym for making a web search. (like blowing your nose with a Kleenex)

I'm projecting that G will have 90% of all search traffic by the year 2010.

try adding into their paid directory? Not sure if that helps.

as for blogs. tag all your articles with the "My Yahoo" bookmark, to at least get it listed. Beats using sitemap for whatever reason.

I dont think i ever use yahoo to search other than look up my own pages/site's. Sad to say I use msn more than them which is not often.

That is so true. And I dont even notice myself saying it anymore, when i really do mean "search" in general terms.

It also depends of your niche: for mainly family related topics (food health etc.) I get good traffic from Yahoo. People do searches from the yahoo portal, so I'd assume it's a less techie audience searching for more "popular" topics.
Geeky people more likely will use Google and not a portal.

Am I imagining things or is it true that "Links are King" on Yahoo?

When my link count broke the 2,000 barrier.....that's when Yahoo really took off (for my site).
