'Thanks' button and 'Reputation' and 'iTrader' plays different roles. I do not understand why many people in this thread are saying that we can use blah option rather than 'Thanks'

As, OP has desired, here should be a 'Thanks' button, so I also agree that 'Thanks' button should be here and no other option takes place of a simple 'Thanks' button.

The reputation system is lot more better then "Thanks" button. So, there is no need of it.

Honestly, the thanks button sucks. Rep and itrader are much better alternatives.

What is the benefit of a quick thanks or any thanks.. Oh, the reason I thought it was confidential is because on one forum I'm a member of it just says "this post has been thanked xamount of times.

On yet another forum, I see that when I thanked somebody, it showed my name as thanking them for that post. I guess this can be hidden.. It looks better (less intrusive) to just have a little text there indicating how many times the post was thanked, rather than having a list of names of people who thanked the poster. Either way, I guess it would be okay if it didnt suck up resources - but I prefer not having the names listed, it's prettier. :D

The functionality is already there... if you want to "Thank" someone for something, send them a PM.

These thanks buttons are completely pointless in my view. I refuse to add them on my forums as well. Oh...I actually did add thanks on one. Since it was repeatedly asked for I added a simple javascript button that did an alert popup saying "Thanks is appreciated". That's all it does. And the requests have stopped.
