Why there are so many "paid modules" for PHPFox out there?

Does the basic application lacks in terms of features?

While the handshake does not have so many paid modules and the basic application seems quit rich in terms of features why do people always comment that "PHPFox" is better?

I am at the verge of buying one but I am still confused. WHY not HandShake when it has somany features? and WHY PHPFox when you will have to pay a lot more to come close to what Handshakes offer?

You are on the right track. The PHPfox has an overall nice look and fell to it, and that's about it. There are so many modules for sale because the script itself is horrible to work with. So a lot of niche coders getting to much money for small mods. For the sums for most of theese mods you could buy complete scripts or websites here on DP. Many customers who have bought PHPfox might not be coders and hence the niche with those who are and making money on mods that you could make within an hour or so for normal scripts. What makes it difficult for PHPfox is the way it was build. It consits of a public (where everyone can see) and a member section, similar to the other but with more options. Even a small thing like adding a extra link to the page seems like a nightmare to users not to mention trying to integrate some PHP in the excisting script.

So if you know your way around PHP and SMARTY templates go ahead, if not choose any of the other options or pay overprice for simple mods like adding youtube embedded videos for 25 dollars!!!
