Yes I think the salaries for professionals in India is quite high these days. Of course the percentage of high earning professionals is quite low .. 80K is quite normal after around 5 years of experience.

World's population is around 700 crore, and population of india is around 125 crore. So it means out of every six person on earth one is indian.

Hope you got my point :)

3.A considerable number of Indians are interested in computer technology, I think:)

Because Chinese people speak Chinese(though some of them can speak English), and China's IT industry is not so developed as India's.

DUDE!! 1 USD= 45 INR as of today.
Yeah right, we live in a third world country and have a good English speaking population base. Besides, India has one of the largest portions of the y-generation in the world, and therefore, we are more into the internet, and therefore, you find more of us everywhere on the net!!

    ok..:).

    check this out:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purchasing_power_parity

what I meant was that $1 buys the same amount of goods in US as Rs 10 in India.

in other words, an income of $1 in US is same as income of Rs 10 in India.

(the above figures are a couple of years old. I am not sure what the current figures are.)

this doesn't mean that every item that is available for $1 in US is available for Rs 10 in India.

because of lost costs in India, India's PPP GDP is much higher than its actual (nominal) GDP:
