I think on my blog tommorrow i will focus it on SEO tools, ones that work and the ones that dont. I also might go into googles policys.

 

Check the Google cache. It will say "This is Google's cache of " and list the original site url there.

 

This is one of the hint, but don't rely much of these because Google Cache updates every 3-5 days depending of the link popularity of a website.

That's not a real pagerank, and the site owner just registered a domain which well know German Site in .cn, maybe google thinks they are the same site.

@lorylxw and Antonio , Google doesn't just think it's the same. The site owner (.cn) made a 302 redirect from the (.de) website thats why Google shows the PR of the (.de) to (.cn) website. There is no guessing here, it's about the 302 redirect.

 

and it seems it's an illegal 302 re-direct..maybe he hacked into their website. that chinese site is crap

 

I think the pagerank checking is not working as I check even microsoft.com shown as PR 0.

 

Not sure bout these because I can't read Chinese. But maybe the site is the Chinese version of the dutch website.

If it returns something else or doesn't show any thing then its fake

Yes. I think you are right. That is the better way than using other SEO tools. It is much more direct and accurate to determine the site.

 

Also just dont go by the pr tool, see whether the site appears for related keywords and ranks very well in google.
