I know, I know, when I first read this stat, I didn't believe a guy actually made 103k per month FROM HIS BLOG. It's actually true (yes, I checked. He was featured on Business Week and New York Times, etc.) After digging around, here is what we can learn: 1. You do not have to rely on google adsense to make money. Once your blog is big enough, offering private advertising and affiliate marketing is also quite lucrative. 2.Being a slave to google by optimizing your keywords so you rank well on search engines is kind of a waste. Once you start focusing your attention to quality posts, the traffic and loyalty will surely follow. 3. Post often and give your blog time to grow! Shoemoney has been going for six years. I bet the guy is glad that he didn't give up after a few months when he was still small potatoes.
I don't know if I can believe that amount, but i guess it's not unheard of. I do hear his new ads on internet radio everyday, "Shoe Money System". More power to him. A testament that hard work does pay off. We should all be so blessed ( well some of us).
That is, imho, the real secret, too many people expect to get rich over night with blogging or otherwise ;-) SY
Most people fail to earn money from blogging, and few succeed. I believe all the winners have spent a lot of time on blogging and insisted on blogging for a long time.
Without quality posts you will have no following, that's for sure. But even if you have quality posts, without optimizing for keywords, where are you going to get the initial traffic from? PPC? Forums? Viral Marketing? .... Organic traffic is the best for blogs... You may choose not to optimize after reaching a particular level. But at least for the initial push to attain a certain minimum of traffic you have to follow sound SEO principles....
No. Not a chance. He may share aspects of it that may be beneficial to a lot of people, but no one is going to tell you a complete guide to the secret of their success, let alone, how to duplicate it. Anyone that believes that they will is a prime candidate to spend money on snake oil.
his websites gets lots of traffic mainly through world of mouth originally he used to write on how to making money online but i haven't seen a good method lately does a lot of new website advertising branding and he gets these advertisement every month because people thing he is a pro at internet marketing just like any other guru- john chow, problogger i used to visit this blog when i was a noob but frankly i did not learn a single method through which i can make me a little money finally i think the shoemoney blog is overrated, so are other make money online bloggers blog all they do is try to get you under their cpa, cpm programs and enjoy the commission from your hard work
Cool Story. This shows that Great Incomes ARE achievable online. BUT, it takes work and time. But then again, Which Business does not take work and time?
I thinkt it need a lot of passion and take a lot of time to make a blog give profit to the owner... The most important is how much time we can spend to gardening a blog
I've written about Shoemoney on my site in the past and know how he made his money. He did a few sites, ebay and pron but his major one was Nextpimp. Actually one of the most valuable backlinks he has to the site is from someone trying to sue him...I guess it's still free promotion. On his site he uses Google Adsense but is a different type of paid setup, I get the affiliate managers find adverts for him at the price he chooses. Also uses paid tweets, paid posts, affiliate ids in posts, Conference talks about Blogging and Branded tshirts. Hmmm... his blog is full of advertisement, no wonder if it get lot of money every month. I have a blog but now i'm still develop it. Wonder if it will get lot of money like that.
You're right but his stories/fails is what attracted people to his site - what do you write about on your blog? I wouldn't say fame came quickly but I've known about him in my 10 years in this field...
It's because he has built a huge brand name for it. With all due respect, I don't find his blog of any personal value since it has a lot of personal stuff & paid promos. Everything else is short, simple content. I have a great respect for him, though.
