Why the number of site:my site less than sitemap data displayed on webmaster tool?

    I sited my site in google,it said About 934 results (0.06 seconds) ,

    but when I Log in google webmaster tools,it displayed URLs in web index:2,321,Why does this happen?

    depending on how you use the site command(with or without www etc) number of results could vary at google.
    i would not really worry about this.

    its the number of site indexed by google but if you can notice on the lower or last results.. google omit other results that are already showed.. it might be the reason..

    GWT (private result) usually show more result than in search query (public result), but in either way, Google limits showing them for some reason.

    I agree with Bogs, there are many omitted results. Google doesn't reveals all your website information publicly... I think you must rely on the numbers you find in the webmaster tool.
