Rules Why the location?

Okay, while seeing some of members using domain name in their location, why? Is this even allowed?

Because it caught me off-guard seeing pretty large amounts of users (higher poster even) adding domain to their location and show it in this forum. My opinion? Not so attractive, that's what signature is for or the website option on your profile. Or is it some kind of way to sneak and add link in the location because of the limited numbers of links allowed in signature? Haha.

Just felt like pointing that out because I don't recall seeing anywhere the rule that state anything about leaving a domain in the location because I am not too sure if I am missing anywhere that rule states that the domain/link isn't allowed in the location. Or am I missing the rule somewhere? Since I've looked pretty much all over since being concerned.

Please don't take me wrong, mainly as I am only concern about the rule regarding this.

I think that the word 'location' is open to interpretation, for example it could refer to a place or a website that we visit/work on a lot.

That could be the case, although there's always information about users work/job and such on the profile on here.

Even moderators are using it to type a smiley or humorous phrase in there. So dont worry.

Smiley and quotation could be used there, but I wasn't talking about that specific. I was talking about basically spamming the link but in text style in location trying to advertise while realizing that the signature only limits 2 (for regular users, I believe) and 4 for subscription user while getting away with it but still.

What gets me concern was some of users has for example, *****.com or *****.net and such with suffix of domain in the location. I mean, if it was without suffix then I wouldn't be concerned much. As again, I recall that the rule state that users cannot use more than 2 links as regular users (inside of forum - not profile) of course but yet, it counts 3 including the location would considering a breaking the rule wouldn't it?

Just making sure of clarify, because if it's allowed then I will change my location to add domain so I could show off 3 links (2 in signature and 1 in location of course) in each post made by me.

Well, now that makes more sense if it doesn't count as a back it.

So I am allowed to use a domain in the location without breaking the rule of DP, correct?
