Hello, I currently rank on the first page of Google UK for the term 'Computer Monitors'. If I check the Google AdWords: KeywordToolExternal exact match results for UK searches of 'Computer Monitors' in May it says there were 90,500 searches. So why is it that on the average day in May my listing only received around 90 impressions (i.e. <3000 searches per month) despite being listed on the first page? Thanks in advance.
Depends on where you are on the first page - position 5 gets something like 6% - http://chitika.com/research/2010/the-value-of-google-result-positioning/ which would be around 5,400 a month - if you are lower than that - then yep, the tool is right.
Thanks for that - but how are impressions calculated? I'm talking about impressions here not clicks. Thanks for your help so far.
Right--if you're on the front page and 90000 people run that search, you should get 90000 impressions. I don't actually know--means something's wonky though.
Yeah that's what I would have thought. I've been on the front page for a relatively short period of time for the term so I'll keep an eye on things.
