Why the high rank of dead site?

I found something strange, with a website of mine. I have not touched it for about 7 months and it's only 1 page, containing a brief article. I have not linked to it or mentioned it on some other site of mine. So you could safely say that it is a rather dead site.

Now, to the strange thing, today when I checked the stats on the server, I spotted that this site, gets some huge traffic from Google. I checked the search term and I did a search on Google. To my surprise the site was listed on second place in the search. According to my stats, Google started to send traffic to it, about 3 weeks ago.

How is that possible? It has a blank PR, no incoming links, not much content (just 1 article around 300 words) and the page links out to 4 other sites (which does not link back).

I have another site, which aims for a less competitive phrase, which is over 1 year old, PR3, updates daily, has relevant links pointing to it, etc, but that one never makes it pass the 5th page, in Google search results.

Is it just a goofy glitch in Google or have I totally misunderstood something?

I know what you are talkin' about. My 8 page site sat for 10 months then poof! It started rollin' traffic in from google. I have since made a few tweaks to monetize.

I think its due to the age of your domain and the unique content that you have made.

Any way please give the URL of your Website and the Keyword you have mentioned.

Google likes to stay where it is. For some reason Google decided that your site is good and don't want to change the opinion.

No one knows what google really consider when it comes to ranking in search results. I suggest you work on that dead site and add some content in it. Try to maintain its ranking and build some backlinks too.

You have probably benefited a little from the aging process
Also have you actually checked what links the site has
That you have not actively sought out links does not mean that people are not linking to you

Thanks for all feedback. Niche, well maybe someone is linking to me, that I doesn't know about, still thinking it's strange though. I will add some more content to it and see if I can get some links, hopefully it will be staying where it is now...

    Hi,

Most likely what has happened is you have gotten some backlinks from somewhere that just hasn't shown up in the search results yet.
