Are you only talking about the General Chat section specifically or any other section or about all sections on the forum?

One of my first posts on DP was on an old thread. I was trying to find a job or something , and... well in my defense, I believe somebody bumped it to the top, then, like a ding dong, I put my reply in there PICK ME PICK ME!! ... I was shamed right there in the thread and learned for the first time, the term "necro posting".. lmao!

Having them floating around is kind of confusing. I responded to a couple of them and then later realized some of them were 4-5 years old. D'oh!! But it was too late to delete my posts.

I think that it could come from using the search feature of DP. Someone looking for a specific topic may have an old post served up and then comment on it. Likewise, someone simply browsing through a section may go several pages back before s/he finds something of interest to post on. In neither of these two situations, did the poster look at the date (or if s/he did, it was of no concern.) Usually, it is a newbie doing the bumping.

    Report button .

Weapon to report suspicious activity .Some kiddy spammers bump old threads because they do want attention from all other posters who posted on same thread .
Some serious OPs do bump old threads to query something .
