Why submit to article sites like ezine?

Ive seen the stories of some others here about writing articles and placing them in ezines, and other article sites.
I have a question though, How do people find your article?
Did they have to search ezine itself? I can't really see that working out....
Or did it come up in a google search?
In order for them to come up in a google search you will have to have made some backlinks. If you are going to do link building for the article, shouldn't you have just placed it on your own site so that you get the traffic/revenue instead of ezines?
If your ezine article got onto the first page of google results without backlinks then are most likely targeting very obscure words.

can someone give me a quick explanation here?
    thanks guys.

If you have a high rank website then it would be better for you to place the article on your website. However if you don't it would be much easier for your article to rink higher in the search engines when it is on EZA. This is because that are an authority website and the search engines loves them.

You submit to make money for EZA. Anyway, put the article first on your site, let it be indexed then rewrite it and put it on EZA and other directories.

Here's why everyone tells you to put your articles on EzineArticles.com:

    1. EzineArticles allows other website/blog owners to reprint your article, as long as they allow your link to be shown to their readers. That's a lot more people knowing about your site than you alone could get to come. Of course, your article has to be well written and informative in order for other people to want to post it on the blog/site.

    2. EzineArticles has TONS of RSS subscribers in every niche. That's more visibility for your site than you can get on your own. And again, many of these people may like your article and make it & your link viral by using it for free on their blog/site.

    3. EzineArticles often are shown at the VERY top of Google's search pages, or near the top. Your backlink is in there, at/near the top of Google. That's more SEO authority and clicks for your site.

That said, EzineArticles is a PAIN to upload an article to, and they are rather slow to approve your articles. However, they're one of the biggest games in town for helping you generate traffic (and sales). So we just keep hoping they'll upgrade their system and hire enough people or whatever.

Note: Also good for traffic-building are AssociatedContent.com and Squidoo.com. I hear a lot of good things about HubPages.com, too, but haven't used them yet.

    Good luck!

Once they hit ezine articles, the next step is for your articles to hit the search engines. Depending on how well your articles are written, this could lead to good results! So your goal is to write quality and unique articles so the search engines can find and rank them to the top.

Hubpages is getting a little more strict recently. I started out using hubpages, but over time they have definitely become more restrictive as to what they allow you to do (as an affiliate marketer). Other than that, great PR. Good Luck!

EZINEARTICLES are known for their quality. Other than traffic, you get one-way backlinks from it. So this will again help you to get good SERPs.
