Why??? Stick on PR???

Hii DP,

I'm new to SEO. Now i'm doing link exchange and every webmaster stick on the PR..... But we can notice that so many LESS PR sites have higher SERP...

So what is the role of PR????

PR is nothing but based on your backlinks it shows how your site is popular, then nothing related with ranking, in link exchange people preferred pr due to get link from popular pr site.

 

Page rank is the penis size of sites. The bigger the better, especially if you flip websites.

 

dont too much worry about page rank, its nothing but shows popularity of site

 

PR is becoming redundant. Look at backlinks before PR.

However PR is a result of backlinks, so sites with more backlinks usually have greater PR.

 

If you and your competitor have exactly the same number of backlinks and your on page SEO is identically effective (not duplicate) then Google's algo may have you tied for SERP. Then the site with the superior PR will rank higher. PR is only one of the factors used, not the be all and end all

 

Remember there are different quality backlinks:

1) Specific niche/non-specific
2) Backlink with high PR/low PR
3) Backlinks from pages with lots of links/few links
4) Old backlinks/recently acquired backlinks.
5) Backlinks with Nofollow/do-follow

etc..

 

PR simply gives you an idea of how many backlinks you have, but if your anchor text is not good and your on site keyword density is bad, many pages with less backlinks will beat you in SERP. Also, keep in mind if your page is new, Page Age is a factor.

 

now a days ... not to much importance of Pagerank.

 

Is there Google announced that?

 

It’s just a ranking system developed by google to show how important your page is as compared to other websites. Don’t worry about the page rank thing. What is more important is traffic unless of course if you are selling links

 

page rank is one of 200 factors that determines your serps rankings, good content is much more important to rank well

I will say by visiting site and checking its page we can know that how helpful and popular this site is but because of penalizing system many pro bloggers are in low page rank lists .

Google PR revisited

 

If you ask many people in this forum and other places about this question, they will say that PR has nothing to do with SERPs. But Google stated that, PR do play a role in deciding a site ranking in search results.

PageRank is used only for link selling

 

I am not so sure about PR. It has definitly not the importance that it used to have. But together with thinks like linktext, relevant content, etc. it is helping your site.

It is at least not possible to rank for compatetive keywords without many backlinks.
