there isnt any difference i have a PR3 .info domain name which for my keyword is number 2 on google.com and number 3 on google.co.uk with 50k exact monthly searches and full up competition for SEO i havent even submitted any articles for this site yet either just the standard blog posting and bookmarking
Talk here isn`t about .net. I told that .net is 3rd after .com and org. But i can`t see any info. Please talk with my hand.. Thanks
Search "free beats", MY domain is in top 10 with .info im ranking above .com's is that enough proof for you?
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=free+beats&aq=f&aqi=g5g-s1g4&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= www.freebeat.info is your site? It is only on #7 Google trust more .com because it is 8$, not 1.1$ like .info. .info domains was seen spammy cuz their low price. There was a big discussion on this recently. People are pretty dogmatic on both sides usually. IMO I would take a .com 100 out of 100 times. If there is nothing else available then choose the .info Code (markup): well i would go for .com instead of .info Well .com is good for seo then .info . Much always go for .com Code (markup): Once i tried to rank .info and to be honest with you it goes really slowly. Just my opinion. Code (markup): And more: LINK I won`t even visit this thread anymore. You register your .info domains, i`ll go for .com Thanks
my google.com is displaying number 2 but yours it still showing in the top 10, so your saying google trusts only expensive domains?? so it will trust .co more than .com because they cost more, you should really do some more research.
having been in SEO for more years than I count I can say .com is exactly the same in terms of SEO to any other TLD. This .info is not as good as .com is an excuse amature internet marketers or seo specialists use. I have had loads of .info domains ranked above .coms and in the first position of many keyphrases and keywords. Also, .co domains are $20 - $30, so I assume .co domains are better than .com (if we use your reasoning) LOL!
No I do not agree with that! $50k are not enough to create a TLD. I am not an expert in SEO (not even a noob) but I have a lot of knowledge in domaining. gTLDs are the same in seo. The advantage is that people after typing the domain they continue with ".com" Can you explain me "seo guy", why when I search "watch movies online" .net is ranked the 1st .net.in is ranked 2nd and .org 3rd??? People invest their time in .com more than in .info thats why "seo guy" .com are usually ranked better in in SE. Anyway you said that you are a "seo guy" so it is pointless to discuss why you, isn't it?
The extension has little impact on rankings; only when it comes to local searches will ccTLDs have an impact as you can sign up to a Google local search program. @diana.lucky, since you are so certain, what about "pr checker". That is a very high advertiser competition keyword/phrase, and prchecker.info ranks first. For an australian local search "train", cityrail.info ranks first. A .net ranks first for "forum promotion". Many keywords, eg. "advertising", "promotion", "marketing" etc. have Wikipedia as the first result, ie. a .org domain, not a .com. Also, many university institutions have a .edu as the extension and government websites such as whitehouse.gov rank in the top 5. Also, you say that you'd take the .com over .info any day. Well, if I had the choice between "internet.info" and "information-on-the-internet.com", I'd take the "internet.info" any day.
My .TV rank higher then it's .COM counter part because my .TV is developed while the .COM is just parked at Sedo asking for $10K
keep seeing posts like this and it cracks me up lol .info is a not a problem to rank it can be ranked easily with some effort if it is new and you are up against 10+ year old .coms then yes of course it wont be easy to rise above them common sense guys
You can make .info sites (or choose other TLDs) but to do it right you must use .com. (Using other extensions shows you are cheap and could not purchase the .com)
It's just like iain123 said.. .com is older and more popular - this is why the most of websites (at top positions in organic search results) are managed at .com domains.
There is no right or wrong way. There are millions of successful sites than use .net and .org, over the .com. .com does not mean it's the right way. So if I purchase a .org for $18, does that show that it's better than a $9 .com? Using other extensions does not show you're "cheap". Educational sites use .edu. Does that mean their "cheap" because they aren't using the .com? Also, the .com may be bought, but it's a premium one word domain. I'm sure purchasing something like forum.net is just as fine when forum.com is purchased.
How many time do we see people saying: "OMG ! OMG ! IT HAS TO BE A .COM... IT MUST BE A .COM !!!" The all end up with an epic-fail ugly ass long tailed .COM Instead of a short alternative.
.com ranks up much easier in search engines, also it is globally known, if you give someone your website chances are they will automatically assume its .com
