I'm just curious, but does anyone understand why so many CJ merchants refuse applications to join their program? This happens to me repeatedly. I suspect in some cases it is because I am in Canada. However, that doesn't make a lot of sense, given that the web is international and people from the US click on my links. I have even had a merchant discontinue my involvement in their program when my site had made repeated sales for them. No explanation given. Before anyone asks, I do not do any of the things that I would expect to be disqualified for. I do not spam. I do not promtote hate, adult, illegal activities, etc. It's a puzzle.
Yes, it would be nice to have a reason attached to the auto-reject feature. For the manual (dis)approves it would come in handy also. Has anyone suggested this before? -sfcom
Sometimes they look at your earnings, those little green bars on your home page, and if you don't have a lot they reject you. I think those merchants want to cherry pick only the big earning affiliates.
Hi, Many advertisers do not accept your applications especially if you are flagged for giving out incentives or bonuses or special giveaways on your site...those are considered incentivized sites. For example, some marketers think that their newsletter or a welcome gift or a welcome pack is a form of incentive and declare in their ORIGINAL application that they offer incentives. This is taken as a negative point against you when you apply for individual affiliate programs in CJ. This is just one of the many reasons...and it may or may not be so in your case. So just check your original registration to see whether you had ticked the incentives box. Hope this helps.
I always assume it's because of my location if I get auto-rejected. One persistent thorn in my side is eBay Canada! They just don't want to know about me.
It's never made much sense to me. I've talked with some of the people that run these programs, and they all seem to have different excuses. My favorite is "it's too expensive to have all these accounts in our database." I'm sure the extra half a kilobyte it takes to store my account info really broke the bank. Are they using diamond studded hard drives with pure gold platters?
Hello, Some mechand reject the application if you are not from US. Try to contact them by email and tell them about your site, and why your site will help them. Best, Jakomo
Does that ever work? I'm in Asia and was auto rejected for a dating site (and by the way, my registed site with CJ *is* a site dedicated to giving dating advice. Clean layout, quality content and everything). I emailed the publisher directly and didn't receive so much of an acknowledgement of a my desire to become an affilate. This is really ludicrous, in my opinion. Just because you don't live in the states doesn't mean you can target the states and reach the target demographic the publisher wants. Oh well. Their loss.
The whole rejection system confuses me too. Most of the time, it's the instant rejection notice. Ocassionaly I have been rejected by a program, only to be emailed by the company later to welcome me to their program.
Well, the main reason will still be the country you are at and the Traffic you are driving to your site.
I manage an affiliate program on CJ. My criteria for acceptance are: 1. You need to have sales in your history. (why waste time with unproven affiliates?) 2. You need to be in the US. This is particular to our product otherwise I would just default to number one.
It's more than just country, sales or even traffic. There has been a major shift in the industry over the past few years. 5 years ago merchants were courting us and sending us gifts.
