I understand that most people will not have time or desire to develop websites properly , but if you will be parking a domain for a decade or something, why not make a small static website about the related keyword ? Hosting can be pretty much free and surely backlinks will appear eventually , some ad revenue/free search traffic could pay at least for the domain maintenance.. Any ideas?
you can make money off parked domains. Most parked sites have advertisements and the owner of the domain will get a piece of the CPC. Asides from that, some people buy domains as investments, and hope to sell them for big $$ within a few years.
Yes I know why people buy domains. However, You can't make any money if there is no traffic. You CAN get some traffic from search with a very little effort.
Some people have portfolios of 500+ domains..Creating sites and updating sites of that magnitude could be a pretty difficult task. Especially if some of the domains are topics that the owner knows nothing about. Development is a good option when you are thinking somewhat long-term but many domainers with larger portfolios aim to buy and sell as soon as possible. Some don't want to take the extra time to develop a website when it may sell for more undeveloped in the short-term.
Yeah sometimes it's about there being so many domains you can't find the time to deal with them, sometimes people just don't know what to do with them, lack funds to make the idea/project work, or certain skills. I am always looking for people to partner with that have large numbers of sites/domains that are underdeveloped for many mutual advantages.
I have a bunch of domains that others have asked me to get for them but they never use them so the domains just sit in my account with no hosting doing nothing. I guess I should point them to a server and set up some parking pages with adverts?
Godaddy has an average of 4-5 domains per customer. That includes those with 1000s domains and companies with 10000s. So if you take out big guys there is 1-2-3 domains per customer. Still no development
