Why so many are stopping from making an online business?

People say It's not difficult to earn money, but one has to work hard.

But I see a lot of posts on this forum from people having a really hard time generating an income online.

The statistics both online and off is that 95% of people fail when setting up their business.

Some one say that it hard accomplishing their goal while others tell that the number one reason people fail in MLM, is because of training so they don't know what they are doing.

Do you have any other opinion?

It really isn't that difficult, you just need to follow a plan, and take little steps and work on your business each day. Forget focusing on adsense, web directories, seo etc, you need lots of visitors or time for those types of sites to work.

Start a solid online business and network with the right people and eventually you should succeed.

You can make it without training...I just started a blog last month with a friend and it is already making some good profit, and this was my first blog ever..

I think people think that online business is easy, thats the problem. Its not thats why we shouldnt think differently about e-business and business in general.. Business is business, it takes hard work and consistency, and sometimes luck helps*

A plan is of the utmost importance & keeping focused on that plan and following it though with it until fruition is key to being successful.

Too many marketers either don't have a proper plan; a specific plan, or they lack the dedication to sit on something until it's successful. This may take weeks, months or even over a year before things get to an acceptable level. Either they give up too soon or they try so many things at one time that they'll undoubtedly fail because they can't give the right attention to their plan.

Of course, choosing a market & a product/services that matches that markets needs is the most important aspect. . . trying to offer something that they don't want/need (or trying to convince them that they do) is usually the wrong approach.

That stat is for real world businesses. It's been around for decades (I remember it from the 80s and I'm sure it was around before that). 95% of people fail within first 2 years and 99% within 5 years.

The stat comes from people taking loans and such to open real world businesses.

As to online, it's lower, because the overhead is lower. Joe Billy-Bob Ray can start with a few bucks and put up a site. He may quit in the end, but if he made that couple of bucks left, it's not categorized as a failure.

There are a couple direct links between real world and online failures--education and experience.

Just as with the real world (more so online), people fail because they lack basic business principles and experience. Look on this forum. Many don't know (or practice) stuff they teach on the 2nd day of Business 101 class or the first chapter in any good business book.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to succeed, but you do need to be working off the right foundation.

Here's something else I don't see people talking about. Every market, company, project or whatever has a cap. Business newbies and the unsuccessful think there isn't a cap. They think anything they do has unlimited profit potential.

The trick is to know our caps, so you can focus resources properly. I'll give you an AdSense example since so many use them.

Let's say you're making $1,000 a month with AdSense. You've worked to grow it, but for months your income has remained close to the $1,000. This is a cap. It would be wiser to reduce resources (time, money, etc) in this area to maintain current levels and to shift those resources to something else that might be more profitable.

Many will take the opposite approach. They'll continue to work harder and harder to increase the $1,000. They won't realize they are capped. And they'll miss out on profits to be had elsewhere.

As a small online business owner, you have to imagine that you're a mini-conglomerate.

Believe it or not, my first business failed miserably, it was an ebay store, and I wanted to give up very badly believe it or not.

    The reasons I failed:

    1. Inexperience
    2. Time Management
    3. Lack of Capital
    4. Not a clear plan
    5. Rushing in order to make fast money <-- put me in debt
    6. Lack of a Steady Income

Those are the most common reasons why people fail. And I did all five :]

I think the biggest problem most people run into is that they get caught up in the "get rich quick" concept. If you made it to these forums you are well on your way to making money online. You just need to read. :)

    Yes, I have an opinion.

The reason why it seems that a lot of people say they cannot make enough money online is because they are kids. There are a lot of children wanting to step in for profit but its hard for them considering they are still learning "the facts of life".

Most people just don't have what it takes. They're either not smart enough or not skilled enough, or both. Sometimes though you just need to be in the right place at the right time. This business is formed around scarce information of what works and what doesn't, and if you happen to know people who can share this with you, you'll have a huge head start compared to those who don't.

But to simplify, a lot of people just aren't cut out for business.

Second that. People dip their hands in all sorts of places without really knowing the requirement of the job and as a result they ending up making a fool out of themselves, subsequently never returning back to the world of online business.

It's like the guy (see many here) that throws money into stocks, forex, etc without knowing much. Rather than give their money to someone who spends 40+ hours a week doing this stuff (and with years of experience), they think they can do better by spending 2 minutes looking at some chart.

All of this goes back to one famous line:

A fool and his money are easily parted.

But, hey, whatever floats your boat. Know it or not, these people contribute to the marketplace. Sometimes they create great buying opportunities. Other times they overpay and/or overbuy, which is great for sellers.

Well I started reading up on ecommerce and online business back in the mid 2000's were now in 2007 and I still have no business huh... wonder why "my age" Since I am still not old enough to own my own business, I just learn and read to gain knowldge so I can be better successfull when opening an online shop. The main problem I have is knowing if I could do well in a certain niche or huge niches that sound intersting to me.

The reason why I think people fail is because they think it is a get rich quick scheme, They dont have the time nor the patience to do all the steps, hey i've been reading for the past 3 or so years and I still need to learn more.

I think you also got to know how you will market your business for me....
    Id use the following procedure....

Sell on Half.com "Less Fees Involved" and market my website through half.com and sell every product on my shopping site as well.

This online world exists for people how are hard workers, you think working 1 hour a day will get you anywhere. You have to work in the online world all day to get to your goal. It's can be done because you will get there eventually.

    I second that!

I thought I knew all about making money on the internet, in fact, I only came to the forums on accident. I stumbled onto the forums, and I received a wealth of information. I feel like a freaking expert now! lol.

These forums are amazing tools that most internet marketers simply overlook. I guess they don't want to be scammed by other people, but you will be surprised of how many mistakes I avoided simply by visiting these forums.

I've even made a couple of dollars too ;]

The number of people making "Tell me how to make $3000 in one month from nothing on the internet" basically sums up the reason people fail in this business.

    It is hard work.

I strongly agree with the fact a lot of people jump into whatever "get rich quick" schemes they can find - people are easily tempted by the prospect of making a lot of money with minimal work - and hey, that doesn't make them lazy; only a little naive.

On top of that, when it comes to "failure", I think some people have no patience; if you're considering launching an online business, I personally think you should test the waters and take the time to consider all factors before fully taking the plunge.

I will never give up on what drives me online" if you see many quiting that's foreseeable only by the ones that do not no what they are after online" online marketing is a well advanced spectrum of many task" if you look around you you will find that their is a very outstanding number of people that quit fast" I hate this" if they new what market to work in they would get the picture quick.

(but don't blame those look at what you should be focusing on!) if you cant see that 95% of all Internet marketers fail with in their 1st year then you then you might as well join them~!

so by all means be open to knew ideas and search for the best company that will offer you no less then 56% commissions on all products and sign ups:)
