Why shouldn't we start autoblogs as Subdomains?

I've noticed that every blogs are made with new domains. I think it's too expensive to build 100s of autoblogs with 50% guarantee.

So, Why don't we make autoblogs as sub domains? It will also rank higher in search engines. huh?

I have to agree the expense of so many autoblog domains seems a bit much. I just started a new blog today and went with the sub-domain purely because I am trying out a few different techniques and if they don't work the investment of a new domain doesn't seem worth it. Maybe I am being cheap and hurting my chances in the process but I will interested to see what everyone else thinks

Yeah.... that many autoblog domains is definitely not a good idea... But it seems to me that in the cases where one person has a few hundred autoblogs, it's all for the purpose of getting pagerank and then pointing those blogs towards a domain / product of their own. Maybe the added pagerank & SERP to their "main" site is worth the potential risk of having 100's of autoblogs?

I've been running a recent autoblog farm using Wordpress MU and subdomains and its working fine, I don't see why people are against the idea to be honest.
