Why should you buy a .co domain?

so we have 2 groups of people on this forum. Some that believe the .co domains are a great investment and importunity to own a piece of the world wide web.

then we have the group that says, these extensions are not worth jack.

I purchased several search terms .co domains so that I can take advantage of a fact, that if your keywords is the same name as your domain, I have now bypassed one of the major hurdles needed to rank certain keywords within the first page of google. Yes I know it is not just the name of the domain that gets your site to the first page. YES their are other requirements, but this is a golden opportunity.

So you say to yourself, well google is not going to allow .co domains to appear on the first page of google within the United States any time soon. These extensions are useless. Do a test. Go on google right now or any other major search engine and type in
co internet

You will see for yourself on google and yahoo that the first item to appear is no other than www.cointernet.co. On google alone this search terms appears over 518,000,000 times. Yes this company had a crazy marketing plan going on. But my point is this, if they can get to the first page on google within the United States using the search term of their .co domains, then why can't you?

This is why .co domains are the second coming for the word wide wed. If you miss the boat the first time, do not miss it again, cause you do not get 3rd chance.

This is my opinion. If you feel other wise, that is your right. If I am wrong, you know what at least I can say that I tried. And if I am right $$$$$$$$$$ all the way to the bank.

 

I have a .TV domain name and the .COM is taken by someone else who as it parked at Sedo... So to compete with them I purchased the .CO and redirect it my .TV, that way I may steal some of his traffic and I can also consider my domain as "commercial".

 

you can use any extension for commercial even .org can you not? If craigslist.org starrted charging for posting do yuo think people would not pay because its an org?lol

 

.ORG are designed for non-commercial profit... Different animal.

 

Why should I buy a CO domain?

Just to follow the trend, like has happened with all the other extensions that overtime are worth nothing unless you have a great premium name and a potential buyer or monetizing plan for it.

 

End users should surely go ahead and buy their desired keyword rich domain name with .co, but people looking to just invest in it... should stay away from it. It is a strict NO-NO for flippers as I do not foresee any great demand for it after the initial rush.

I agree with RightMan. Look what happened to all the other domain extensions. History keeps repeating itself.

 

Personally the only way people will consider purchasing .co domains is when google allows for the geo targeting to be changed. In the mean time, they are a great tool to use with search related keywords to use as a domain name. In a way, better for me, because the less people that have figured this out, the more keywords, I can grab that are related to my industry. At the end of the day, I will know in a month or so, if my keyword are actually working and if they do as expected, I will post results and pick up more keywords.

They are new but you can probably make a ton of money by selling them.

 

There is no secondary market for .co domains at this time. There are so many available. Yes the good search terms are dwindling down, but I purchased them because as a small business it is really hard to compete against the big box stores and then pay upward of $3 per keyword and only get a fraction of the traffic where only 3 to 5% convert. In this case, I invest a little under $1000, and put these keywords through seo boot camp and before you know, I am now getting 10x the amount of traffic for each keyword for free. As far as these keywords being the next big thing only time will tell, but for now, there is one thing that is perfectly clear, If you need targeted traffic and the keyword that you target is still available, you better grab that keyword faster than you can think twice about it.

I am not sure if this is for me or not, but I am not in it to make a quick few dollars. Even if somebody offers me a few thousands dollars, In the long run, these keywords, will create 10 folds that amount. Any how that is my two cents. You are either in it to win the game or on the side line, just keeping score.
