Why should people stop using IE? I need solid points!

Seeing people upgrading their IE6 to IE7, I feel sorry for them as they are marching towards another era of virus attack, security holes, etc.

BUT, before convincing these people to switch, I need some valid factual points to let these people think again before opening their IE for the next time. Though there are loads of information out there in the web about the problems of IE, most of them are not up-to-date or are no accurate. Therefore, if possible, I would like to using the advantage of Web 2.0 to gather the power of every single member in DP to list out the problems of IE.

To give some ideas for DP member to help investigate, I have copied a few points from stopIE.com as a reference:

    * Major security issues in Internet Explorer
    * Spyware and Adware issues in Internet Explorer
    * Internet Explorer's lack of modern user-centric features
    * How Internet Explorer is the slowest browser
    * Internet Explorer's abysmal Web Standards support
    * Internet Explorer and accessibility

I use FF myself, but I still believe IE is safer than FF.

Simple; FF is more user friendly, has a TON of addons, has a feature for every need you have, I love it.

I hate IE...had mayor flaws and bugs for years....and never bother them....I use Opera tha is the most friendly to date browser, then comes Firefox.

I downloaded IE7 but still has no easy way to use it...

I have been using IE for a long time. It is a matter of habit now despite the fact that FireFox seems to be loading pages faster and have more features. I sincerly hope that I can break the cycle and become a FF user one day... :)

IE is private property - owned by bill gates while FF is open source :)

I use IE and FF both but feel that FF is better with so many more plugins

IE is not the slowest browser. FF is much slower than IE. FF is slow to load and slow to render.

As a web-developer I've found that all browsers have their own special quirks.

The main reasons I use FF when developing is to make sure the pages render in both IE and FF the same and to use the Javascript debugger which is much better than IE's.

    FF is way safer.
    FF is way faster.
    FF is way more secure.
FF is updated all the time as IE isn't.

Firefox sounds like a fox that's been set on fire an IE sounds like AI but its not intelligent at all... And who said these shrooms weren't magic?

Almost every other browser has tabbed browsing...except IE.

    What about IE 7?

    Have they finally added tabs?

I agree with most of what is being said about IE and FF.

There is one thing I would change about FF though, I would like to see a button or icon for opening a new tab that I can click on with the mouse. Maybe I don't use FF enough to know if this is an option, but I would like to see that. Just a preference.
