Why should God let you into heaven when you die?

Smile - I should clarify. My post was certainly not a defense of predestination, as a concept, theological or otherwise. We either have free will, or, theologically, we are pre-destined for heaven or hell.

In fact, I merely posed several examples, drawn literally from biblical text. To say my post another way, accepting Free Will, God took a perfectly faithful servant - Job - and destroyed his life, for no other reason, by the text, than as a bet with a bored Satan, to prove his servant was loyal. God destroyed his family and his life's well being, for this petty thing - literally, a wager with Satan.

    Is this love?

On the issue of predestination and biblical text, there are several passages suggesting at least a support of the notion, theologically. One that has always seemed salient to me, comes from Romans:

But again, as an atheist, mine was not a defense of predestination. Merely to suggest that the Jehovah as described in the bible did, in fact, call for murder - e.g., the extermination of Canaanite men, women and children of Jericho, for one example.

Stop putting yourself down smile, it makes me uncomfortable. I don't think you have made a single post yet which doesn't contain a reference to you being flawed or wretched in some way. It's ok to like yourself without the snakeoil.

Anyone else notice the frightening similarity between smiles mind set and that of a cult member? Cults work by convincing people that they are worthless and flawed but promise to have the magical cure.

As for the rest of your post, hindus say exactly the same thing. So why don't you believe in vishnu? I know you are going to be reluctant to answer because in doing so you will no doubt give a perfectly valid reason for rejecting an absurdity and will leave yourself nowhere to go after i reply with "thats the exact same reason why i reject your god".

All you are doing now is demanding your god is given special concession and reduced scrutiny which you don't afford to the claims made by others about other gods.
