A few things that have been missed here altogether is that web users also have browsing and buying cycles and that they can fluctuate as well. If you are getting say 10,000 in a month for wedding dresses in August but only 6,000 searches per month for that same term in November when it is colder and raining (at least here in the US) then the potential amount of traffic even a top site will get will also fluctuate wildly. Also the same thing can be said about not just what someone is searching for but HOW someone is searching for it. Also the search engines will place different amounts of importance on different factors of a website with each algo they run. This will also cause dramatic fluctuations not only in your SERP positions but also in your traffic.

Sorry to disagree, but traffic is really important to all site. To get traffic we need to have top rankings on search engine to increase traffic. But if we have good rankings and still have less traffic we have think other alternative to get more high traffic. While building links, this links can be the source of traffic.
