Why RSS feed pages in index?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by wireddeals, Jan 21, 2007.

I have been running a blog for a few months now. When I check what pages are in the index most of the links end with "/feed/". In fact starting with the result number 13 all of them are "/feed/".

I have no explanation for this. Looking at my stats I do get visitors via Google and other search engines. Yet this anomaly is strange. Has anyone had the same problem? Can anyone think of an explanation?

Here is the link to see the indexed pages:

I noticed that too. I guess Google think that indexing rss feeds is a good idea since they can be easily informed about the changes on the site..

You can block /feed in robots.txt if you don't want google to index it...

For a blog site, RSS feed is useless. RSS feed is to help search engines understand your products and services, so many site like directory put rss feed in the home.

No it isn't.. People can subscribe to your blog and get updates whenever you post. How is that useless?

Well mate i just want to ask one question from you. If you think that you are getting traffic on each of your page and each of page has got indexed then i dont think that there is any thing better than this as you will get the better traffic on your blog. I can say these words with full surety that most of the members of DP will agree to this.
So frnd enjoy charm and dont think that you are gonna loose anything out of It.. Keeep enjoying

Well if feeds are useless for a blog site, then how can we get our blogs an existence? I mean how can a blogger submit his blog to be listed in google or any search engine.
    thanks and regards.
