 Didn't mean to offend anyone. It was more of a question.
I know PR is a good indication (I am working to get my 5 to a 6) but would be nice to have more info.
So if no one trusts Alexa. Where can I get reliable information on traffic stats of different web sites? Does anyone offer that?

PR is good for selling links because a higher PR influences SERPs more.

For example, let's say you and a peer both wanted to get on the first page for the keyword "superballs". However, let's say you could each only have 1 inbound link. Your friend gets a link with the link text "superballs" from superballs.com (PR 4) to his site, you get a homepage link from Yahoo.com (PR 9) using the same link text to your site. As a result, you'd probably be on the front page with that one link, while he may not even be listed.

A high PR can also push your rank up in Google, and thus drive traffic, since links to your own inner pages will be influenced more by your high site PR. So while some may say it's useless, it's actually pretty important when building/buying/selling links.

yeah not to big a fan of the PR system. doesn't tell you much about the site. I would like if Google had something similar to Alexa that would be awesome.
