Why PR and not "Traffic Rank" ?

From reading a lot of the postings it seems "PR" is the BIG thing for sites. OK, that indicates link popularity but shouldn't the "traffic rank" (alexa provides that info) mean a lot more??

PS: You would think they go hand in hand but from what I observed it isn't necessarily the reality.

 

PR is the big thing? What exactly are you asking here? You think a site should be ranked according to its traffic? So if I buy a load of cheap crappy quality traffic from an autosurf program I should be ranked higher?

 

Alexa ranking? Are you in a mood to joke? Nobody takes Alexa ranking seriously.

 

PR can lead to traffic and PR sales links. That's the short answer.

 

Forget about Alexa, can be easely tweaked (easier than pr). You can always ask a webmaster for traffic stats for his site if you want to know this aspect.

OK Why Page Rank and why not Site Rank.

 

I had a site with a PR 6 and hardly any traffic, does not mean much if you don't have traffic. I also agree that Alexa is not a reliable measurement tool for webmasters.

 

Good point, but it still depends on the viewers, some sites have higher PR but less in traffic.

 

Alexa absolutely sucks! It actually seems to be always wrong! On one of my sites that is actually being penalized and has lost nearly all of its traffic, on the Alexa ranking the graphic shows that supposedly now my site is getting more traffic than ever before. ahaha you got love Alexa... not!

 

Don't bother to much about PR or Alexa Rank too much.Write a good content.Not such a crap post.Your readers love it,and slowly your PR also higher and your traffic will be huge.Build up slowly and smoothly.It takes a lot of hardwork. But PR is a huge thing.higher PR will cause a visual respect for other that see it.

 

neither really matter unless you are selling links tbh. Content is always king and in turn brings traffic which is what matters more than some kind of stat.

 

You can have a great site with traffic thats a PR0 but noone will take it seriously till you get some PR, this is because PR is evil and encourages people to rip off other by selling wordcloud links.

 

Also if it was a traffic rank a crappy site about britney spears could easily rank higher than quality sites in much smaller niches.

I agree. It doesn't mean that if you have higher PR you can get more traffic. When I'm looking for a site to link exchange I check backlinks and traffic rank. For me PR is not very important now. The most important is linking to related site.

 

pr is big think for me because i sell links but what do you expect from the page rank? page rank WILL NOT effect your serp results . serp is related over 200 criterias on google

 

buying a domain or a website should have it's risks, like in real bussiness, you can see serps, PR, alexa traffic, but you can't be sure what you will get, those who are ispired to buy good websites will win.

 

Alexa is about as useful for webmasters as an umbrella with holes in during rainy season in the jungle.
