Especially on the Internet. Present company exempted, of course.

You don't need to be visiting this forum for long in order to realise that amongst some generous individuals who are ready to give genuine solid advice to anyone who asked for it, there are far more people who are on here because they've heard that they can make money on the internet and wanted to be rich yesterday without putting in an ounce of effort. These unscrupulous people will do anything to make a quick buck. They will steal your content and design and may even sell them on.
I agree that you need to advertise your site, but not on forums like this where you will only invite copycats and competitions.

The main secret to success that everyone already knows but no one wants to accept is hard work. The folks that are successful are always saying the same thing... Find something you are interested in and passionate about and run with it. Hard work over many years is what it takes to build a successful online business. Want to see sample sites.... Go to alexa.com and check out the top 100 sites on the internet... Then apply the concepts you see on a smaller scale to your site(s).

    I agree.

Today, I sit back and watch my Google statistics rack up and watch for the big check to roll in every month but it didn't happen overnight and it wasn't easy.

I worked hard, spent nights and holidays working on my site, tried techniques that failed (and some that worked), worked link exchanges, interviewed with newspapers and magazines, paid for Adwords and Overture ads, spent months learning SEO techniques, sent releases to PRWeb, participated in related forums, created "tell a friend" links on all my pages, kept my content fresh and updated, added new content almost every day, and more. But I loved every minute of it.

Otherwise, it was easy and took no effort whatsoever.

There is no shortcut for success to your website in a long-term. :D Hard work is required. Even if there is exists, I don't see reasons why people who find their own shortcut ways have to reveal their secrets, even someone might want to pay for their secret. If someone told you that they've secrets to sell you, might be liar. :D
