i notice if many people register a domain name as 123.com then they also register a domain name as 123.net , 123.org why people do it . I think coz they don't want that someone will compete them by using same domain as they have . Whats ur opinion?
You're exactly right. If I spend years and lots of money making 123.com the greatest website in the world, I don't want some bozo using 123.net and trying to copy me.
It's to protect your 'brand'. I hope they don't come out with any new extensions as this is getting expensive. I have a 5 letter dot com, the net is available and has been tasted 5 times in the past year. I really should grab it before a taster buys and holds but can't afford all the net extensions of all my domains.
Different TLD is not the old problem Typo .com is also another issue you must consider for the same reasons you mentioned above
You buy all of them and protect yourself and your brand from 'squaters'. You buy all of them and forward URL to your core site and that's it...
