Have you ever asked your self why people may click on your ad , sure you did , but what about you ... why you may click on someone else is ad , a publisher like you ...
I will tell you the true , I may click on it because :
the webmaster is good and the contents are original so I will support him .
the the link on the ad looks cool and I don't want to miss it .
I will never click if :
the website built for the ad .
the webmaster is doing his best to blind the ad with his post like I am nothing .
or cuz I hate him .

what about you ? I mean if we know each others we can upgrade our brains lol

I'd like to think that people click on my ads because they're interested in what is being advertised. The difficult part is to get the ads noticed, by either blending them in, placing them in a place where people will look or making them stand out.
As for me, the few occasions that I click on an ad it will be because I'm interested in the product being advertised.

Once in a great while I will click on an ad on some website, maybe a banner, or text link, etc if I am interested in maybe buying the product advertised, or the site looks like something I am interested in. I would think that is the purpose of any advertising, to sell or offer a product or service.

I don`t think clicking an ad has something to with the webmaster or publisher. Even if I find an ad on a scaper site, an ad which looks interesting to me, is surely gonna get clicked by me.

I discoverd COOP Netwok by clicking a text links on one of the highly crap site, which just pumped on my screen, I saw Free Advertising, I got interested, clicked it and discover something good.

Same is the case of adsense. Anyways lots many people do know about adsense ads, but still total percentage of internet users aware of the google textual advertising is low, so it doesn`t matter to them.

Advertiser would hate this kind of visitors. You're not interested on the ads and you have no intention at all to buy the product, you just click the ads because you want to give some money to the publisher. For me, it is invalid clicks.

I only clicks on the ads if I really interested on it, no matter if I like the webmaster or not.

To me that is a fraudulant click. I may seem harsh, but essentially that's what it is.

I thought this reason was funny if not a bit strange. Do you hate that many webmasters?

I would like to think people click on my adsense cause they are looking to buy a product.

Truth is they probably think its just more of my site since it blends in so well and is in there way.

    Hi,

As we all are human beings, its part of our nature that we don't like others making money and obviously we don't want others growing through us :D . But it is the mind of a person doing the same business as the other one, but if we take case of an ordinary man who is not involved in all these, may just want to go through sites and may go through a site which he thinks good for him, not knowing the real intensions behind it. As there are countless people on earth, we can hope to get those people, which i mentioned in the second category for the well being of our site :)

    Regards

Maybe, but in "Google think" that what it is. We need to think like they do if we want to stay on the up and up.

I also click ads on a site that I deem worthy. But I do look for an interesting ad and look at the product or site I click to. Isn't that what the advertiser is paying for?

It's just a matter of respect I think. I don't click away like a maniac and I don't go to a site every day to click their ad. But let's say I use someones seo-tool or other service then I feel they deserve the 10 cents or whatever they get from a click.

    Samurai,
Thats exactly what Advertisement is for. I sometimes feel there would be no internet if there didn't exist advertisement, atleast the free content. Well, I don't mind clicking ads on other sites, I sometimes find very interesting ads.. and hence its natural that they get clicked. There might be some amount of jealousy(or whatever you call it) which would stop you from clicking ads, but remember.. Good things happen to people who do good.

Well I hope the people who visit my sites only click on the ads because they are interested in the companies services - because the last thing I want is smart pricing kicking in because you thought the ad was 'interesting'.

I'll frequently click on an ad if I like the website and keep coming back. I love going to slashdot and clicking on microsoft ads. I know it isn't going to hurt Bill, but I still get a twisted satisfaction out of it.

My example about slashdot and google (a little bit above here) is a good example of invalid clicks, but it's hard to say they're fraudulent. Slashdot doesn't have any kind of "visit our sponsors" message, they're not paying me (except with information), and it's not like I really have anything to do with the site.

Worrying about the individuals who visit your site and their motivation...even G couldn't make anything about that stick.

IMO we (webmasters) are a small percentage of the internet community ... so it does not matter if we are aware that the links displayed are google ads or not.. and why we click on ads...

Most people are not aware of what adsense is ... they click if they find the anchor text interesting .. or think thats something useful. (I keep seeing the jumping monkey kinda ads ... which says click and win ... and also the silly quiz question ... which one of these is George Bush ... I am sure these guys are making money ... if the average users are clicking on these ads .. I am sure it will take them a long time for them to find out what google ads are ;) )
