The question is which ones will have pr. I mean some of my best links I have ever gotten from directories was when I submitted to them when they were still PR0 and suddenly the directory become one of the leading ones. Not all bidding directories will move up, but many will.
I haven't been paying the fee for these bidding directories honestly because I don't feel they offer much in terms of traffic and almost exist to build and pass PR. The biggest flaw is the categorical system - organizing sites by alpha order is a terrible way to categorize a directory. I know there's a search function, but I don't think that's as effective as creating a comprehensive category structure that allows visitors to isolate the category of sites they're looking for. What i'd like to see is the bid directory concept applied to the normal PHPLD template where you can arrange sites by category but listings are ranked in bid order. That seems like the best of both worlds in my opinoin. I can't code PHP worth a dang, but if anyone builds a site or template like this, I would likely pay for something like that.
Just saw it - much better than the alpha category list. I would love to see more categories listed on the entry page than the 10 or 12 that I saw, but it's a step forward. I guess too many categories would take away from frontpage inclusion a bit.
i see a great scope in Bid directory. I love the compition to get our site on top and yes $$ come regularly for a listing already bought. On the other hand buyer is also in win situation.
Well Im very happy that you decided to choose my domain for your question. WWW.BID-DIR.COM and not to worry its got some toys and will have more soon. thx malcolm
