I always see offers to submit my site domains to search engines. But what is the benefit? I can do this manually through google, yahoo, etc. Can someone explain please?
Usually it is just a way to fool people who are not aware of how search engines work. Many business owners and new webmasters have no knowledge of search engines and think more search engines one submits to , more visitors one gets. The big three search engines that matter, index a site even if there are just few good links to it.
You sure they are not talking about directory submissions? I can definately understand directory submissions, but search engines???
Many of them don't mention anything about directories. Source: hxxp://www.w3now.com/web_site_Promote_SEO.cfm You will find hundreds of such offers all over the net.
You don't even need to submit your sites now days you don't have to do anything they will just crawl your website.
I created http://www.highprofitfundraiser.com (newbie) for a friend. It is up and going, but even if i google "highprofitfundraiser.com" it says the site does not exist. I have already submitted the site to google.
99% of traffic comes from major search engines and all of them index our sites with out submiting them, just get few backlinks and u can even directly submit for faster results, paying huge and submiting to small search engines is waste of time.
Get some backlinks from directories, google will find you. And spend some more time here on DP to learn more. First lesson, dont jam the bottom of the page with so many keywords. Google does not look kindly on keyword spam.
There's no point in submitting your site to the search engines, just getting few backlinks from already indexed sites and regularly crawled sites helps in indexing. People do pay others for submitting their sites to directories.
yeh paid directory submissions is different o search engne submissions paying for directory submissions can be justified
Thanks everyone for your comments. Does everyone here agree that I need to remove all of the keywords at the bottom of the page? (http://www.highprofitfundraiser.com). Does this hinder my chances of getting in the search engines?
Yes, dump the keywords spam at the bottom -- looks like you've got it on every page. You could reserve the footer area for text link navigation throughout your site, as you add more pages in the future. Also, search engine optimize each page individually, with different titles, meta tags, headings, text, etc. Each page should be considered a potential entry point from the search engines. Listen to the members above too -- forget about submitting to search engines -- instead, locate some similar industry sites, niche and general directories to submit your site. Good luck.
The Good News: The link you posted on this forum will get the site indexed shortly by Google. The Bad news: You need more backlinks for SEO rankings and you need to work on your on page optimization 1. Add commas between your keyword tag items. 2. I see that candles is a keyword but it is not mentioned in your description. Reduce the extra words in your description. The description should have as few words possible and doesn't need to be a readable sentence. Try using "pipes" | between keywords. 3. Use the H1 and H2 tags somewhere at the top of the page with a keyword in the text. 4. Your homepage title tag has a misspelling. Also make this tag unique for each page instead of the same text for everything. 5. Rename graphics with keywords(be descriptive however. i.e. fundraiser-header-graphic.jpg) 6. Add ALT text to your graphics. (same as above) Good luck. <meta name="keywords" content="profit school fundraisers fundraiser money school group candle candles cash shipping"> <meta name="description" content="Highprofitfundraiser.com is your best source for school and group fundraisers.
